| Radyo Vision: Better seen and heardAuthor: Malaya THE LONGEST running AM radio station in the country is now on TV! DZRH, flagship station of Manila Broadcasting Company and considered the standard-bearer of broadcasting excellence in the Philippines, now airs simultaneously over Channel 67, courtesy of Infocoms interactive cable channel CubeiTV. With "Radyo Vision," radio listeners and TVviewers subscribing to both Skycable and Home Cable can now interact via short-messaging system (SMS) with DZRH announcers and have their text messages displayed onscreen through CubeiTVs interactive chatroom. The television link kicks off at 4:30 a.m., Mondays to Saturdays, with Andy Vital going through the news headlines for the day, followed by Joe Taruc in "Balitang Bayan Numero Uno" at 5 a.m. Deo Macalma and Ruth Abao take over at 7 p.m. for "Espesyal na Balita," on a back-to-back programming link to "Damdaming Bayan," with Karen Golfo joining Joe Taruc. CubeiTVs music programs take over at 10 a.m. while radio listeners continue to have their fill of the traditional soap operas DZRH is also famous for. From 2 to 6 p.m., "Radyo Vision" then picks up on discussions and updates about the hottest public affairs issues of the day. Sundays offer the lighter side of the news, as DZRH announcers led by Milky Rigonan, Manny Bal, Jenny Simon, prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, and the iconic Tita Swarding treat the public to showbiz tidbits along with lifestyle, culture, and entertainment features. Through this exciting new partnership of MBC and Infocom, we see how traditional media has indeed gone multi-platform. Audiences both young and old can give their own opinions on the spot, and readily receive counter-reactions with the benefits of interactive TV. Catering largely to a visually-oriented C-D-E market, it hopes that "Radyo Vision" will stir the public into becoming more socially conscious and politically aware. Source: Malaya |
