| Rhian: I can't please everyoneAuthor: Mario E. Bautista Rhian Ramos has two opposite groups of fans. One loves her so much they protect and defend her each time there's an issue against her. The other one hates her so much they keep on sending reporters various derogatory stories about her. How does she feel about this? "Wala naman akong magagawa, e," she says. "Basta I thank those who support me at dun sa mga naninira, I guess you just can't please everyone, di ba?" She's one of the busiest stars now on GMA. She's in "Codename: Asero" and she'll soon start her own soap, "La Lola," where she plays the role of a playboy who is turned into a woman. On the big screen, she's in "Italy (I Trust and Love You)" that opens on September 17 and she's also in the new Robin Padilla movie, "Sundo," where she plays Robin's younger sister. She has a new leading man in "La Lola," JC de Vera. "We've worked together in 'Ouija' kaya we know each other na. I admire his acting skills at mahusay siyang artista kaya excited akong makapareha siya uli. " Isn't she worried that JC is so identified with Yasmien Kurdi? "Malakas talaga ang love team nila, but their fans need not worry kasi isang show lang naman itong 'La Lola. ' Trabaho lang po ito at ayoko namang maging kontrabida in the eyes of their fans. " How come some of her fans are threatening to boycott the show if Mark Herras would be added to the cast? "Nakakatawa nga kasi may petition pa raw silang huwag isasama si Mark, e hindi naman siya talaga kasali. I don't know why galit sila kay Mark, e kami rin naman ang magkatambal sa 'Italy,' where he plays a waiter doon sa cruise ship na pasahero naman ako and we fall in love with each other. We've also worked before in 'My Only Love' at mabait na tao naman si Mark. " Rhian is celebrating her debut on October 3. Originally, she didn't want to have a party but she realized she has so many people she wants to thank, so she'll just make it a thanksgiving party. "But with 18 roses and 18 candles," she says. "I'll invite my friends like Judy Ann Santos, Jolina Magdangal and Iza Calzado na co-stars ko in 'Ouija' to be part of 18 candles at ang mga naging leading men ko like Richard Gutierrez, Mark Herras and JC de Vera sa 18 roses. " How come it's been reported that she's dating Rayver Cruz? "We did some shows for Smart out of town so naging friends kami. We live in the same area. Ako sa Alabang at siya sa Parañaque and one time na pareho kaming walang work, nagyaya siya to hangout at nagkita kami. Ayun, nasulat nang kami na, but we're just making tambay. " Alessandra de Rossi reportedly moved to ABS-CBN to avoid working with her in "La Lola. " How does she feel about this? "Is that true? Para namang napakalaking factor ko sa paglipat niya. I'm sure she has some other reason. " Will she invite Alex to her debut? "Okay lang to invite her. Pero pupunta ba siya? Noon pa naman ako nakikipagbati sa kanya. Siya ang may ayaw. " Rhian has just been launched as the first celebrity endorser of B Club, the source of mainstream for women's bags and shoes. B Club chose Rhian as she's fresh, fun, vibrant and represents young people who work hard for their future. "Women deserve to be fabulously fashionable without the expensive price tags," says Rhian. "They have great classic styles and for them, fashion is both serious and fun. B Club is available in about 40 stores nationwide and also in various department stores. " MARK WELCOMES HALF-BROTHER TO SHOWBIZ 'MY Name is Kim Sam Soon" is ending this month and Mark Anthony Fernandez says this is the show that really brought back the public's interest in him. This was apparent when he guested in the Dingdong-Marian birthday show at Araneta Coliseum and the applause was deafening when he came out on stage. The same thing happened when he guested in the Cagayan de Oro fiesta last weekend and fans were shrieking when they saw him. "Kahit saan ako magpunta, people call me Cyrus, my name in 'Kim Sam Soon. ' Nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord at siyempre, sa GMA-7, kasi sa tulong nila, nakabalik ako at nakabuwelo uli ang career ko," he says. "I owe them a lot kaya naman I promise that this time, hindi ko na ulit sasayangin ang opportunity na ibinigay nila sa akin. I'm really very much concentrated on my career now at sa craft ko as an actor. I don't want to be distracted again. I'm sure pati si Papa (the late Rudy Fernandez) is very happy sa magagandang development na nangyayari sa career ko after mapabayaan ko ito noon. Yun naman talaga ang gusto niyang mangyari, maging successful ako so I'll be able to stand on my own two feet. " It's said that his half-brother, Renz (youngest son of Daboy and Lorna Tolentino), will also be joining showbiz. How does he feel about this? "Siyempre, happy ako. I welcome him with open arms. Ready akong tumulong sa kanya and to give him tips para maging matagumpay ang pagpasok niya sa showbiz. " DR. HAYDEN ENJOYS SHOWBIZ WHILE IT LASTS DR. Hayden Kho is happy with the very encouraging feedback his performance in "Kim Sam Soon" is getting as Nadine Samonte's boyfriend. He does even drama scenes quite convincingly. Has he taken any acting workshop? "No," he says. "When they first got me to act in 'Marimar,' I was hesitant but I'm playing the role of a doctor, so I accepted it. Dito sa 'Kim', doctor na naman ang role ko. I also got an offer in the new Judy Ann Santos drama sa ABS, tapos doctor na naman again. I didn't accept it, not because I'm playing doctor again, but I want to be loyal to GMA-7 who gave me the break in 'Celebrity Duets'. I didn't consciously plan my joining showbiz kasi takot ako sa intriga, e. But the offers keep coming in so, sabi ko, sige subukan ko muna. E ako naman, once I accept an offer, I really put all my heart into it. " Hayden is 6'3" and was an exclusive ramp model for Pitoy Moreno. "I started at 16. But my dad wanted me to finish medicine, so pinagbigyan ko siya. I also challenged myself na makakaya ko, kasi alam kong mahirap ang course. " The fourth of five kids, he was born on May 20, 1980 (he shares the same birthday with Lolit Solis, his publicist. ) He obtained his medical degree from UST. He has a sister who's a nurse and one who's a physical therapist. Two brothers are engineers. "I got my height from my dad, who's 6'1", but his body is much wider. Nakuha ko yung slimmer build ng mom ko. " If he'd have his way, he doesn't want to talk at all about his high profile girlfriend, Dr. Vicki Belo. "Unang-una, I don't want people talking about our personal life. At saka, lately, parang I'm always talking na lang about our relationship. E kaso, ako naman ang tinatanong so we can't avoid it. " Is it true they had a big fight recently and broke up? "It was just a case of misunderstanding. It happened Sunday night, pero na-patch up din agad. " Was there really a third party involved? He's been linked to Katrina Halili for sometime now. "No third party. Walang kinalaman si Katrina dito. It's not true at all. It's about control issues. Me controlling her and she controlling me. May ginagawa siyang ayokong gawin niya and vice versa. E, pareho kaming emotional that time. Hindi ako palaiyak na tao, but at around 2 a. m. , I was thinking of her and my eyes are getting wet so I called her up. Hindi kaya ng puso ko. It turned out she's just waiting for me to call her up. The next morning, we already played squash together. Nakakahiya, ano? Parang mga teenager. " Does his family get along well with Dr. Vicki? "Oh yes, she and my mom are best friends. Ako naman, with her family, we're much better now. " What are the qualities of her that he finds endearing? "She's sexy and fun to be with. And I like her being childlike. " Does he see himself ending up with her for good? "Yes, I do. " So is he giving up medicine for showbiz? "No. I can do multi-tasking naman. Ayoko lang sa showbiz, yung waiting on the set. Kung minsan, 6 p. m. ang call time ko, madaling araw na akong makukunan at natapos ko nang basahin lahat ng books na dala ko. Naiisip ko, ang dami ko na sanang nagawa sa clinic. But I'm enjoying acting, lalo na sa drama, so okay lang. " Is he giving himself any deadline to hit it big? "No. I just take the offers as they come. Kung wala nang offers, then I'd go back full time to being a doctor. She also went steady briefly with Gabby Eigenmann and Cogie Domingo . But now, the love of her life is Director Dominic Zapata of GMA-7. She's 24 and he's 37 but the age works to their advantage as Direk Dom is very patient and understanding. "Naging friends muna kami before naging kami," she says. "One time, noong may LQ kami ni John Lloyd, he even helped patch things up with us. Yun pala, magiging kami. " Krista fiished inter-disciplinary studies at the Ateneo. "Yun naman ang agreement ko with my dad. I'd finish college muna bago ko bumalik sa showbiz. Now that I'm of age, I make decisions na for myself, like posing for FHM na ayaw rin ng daddy ko. " So does she intend to walk down the aisle with Direk Dom soon? "No, not yet. Ngayon pa lang ako nakakabuwelo uli sa career ko. Alam ko he's nearing 40, but he still has to wait dahil wala pa sa plans ko ang marriage.
