Richard not threatened by ‘Marimar’

Richard not threatened by ‘Marimar’

THREE female housemates got nominated for eviction last week: Beauty queen Riza Santos, racing queen Gaby de la Merced, and mommy Yayo Aguila. But there was no eviction since the mother of Yayo Aguila died and she had no choice but to make a voluntary exit. What a pity since many are predicting that Yayo will win in the "Pinoy Big Brother" ("PBB") as the housemates and a lot of viewers like her.

If the eviction pushed through, our guess is that it will be Gaby who’d go since she has already gone out of Kuya’s house when she attended an international seminar in the US. But Ethel Booba wants Riza out as she knows Will Devaughn, whom she is openly seducing, is attracted to Riza. She doesn’t want to have a rival for Will’s attention.

Ethel returned just to get Will at all cost after she was dumped by her boyfriend, Janvier Daily, who was the reason why she went out ofKuya’s house in the first place as she reportedly misses him so much, without knowing she’s history as far as he is concerned. Now, she acts like an obsessed gay in heat with Will, who seems uncomfortable with all the fuss she gives him. Ethel also celebrated her birthday inside the Big Brother’s house with a special concert held at the PBB Eviction Hall titled "Thank You So Much." Ethel is a good singer and entertainer. Her opening numbers, "I Will Survive" and "Funky Town," really sent her housemates dancing while they’re watching her on a TV set.

Since it’s Christmas, the Celebrity Housemates made a big lantern (8x8 ft.) and this is now displayed at the Paskuhan Village. Former housemates Donnie Geisler, Jen da Silva, and Zara Aldana officially turned it over to the Philippine Tourism Authority of Paskuhan Village to be part of its annual Giant Lantern Festival. This is the first lantern exhibited there not made in Pampanga and it will be there until December 30. Meantime, you can also hear the Misa de Gallo now being held at 4 am. at the PBB Activity Center with Fr. Joey Gonzales officiating.

At the Gutierrez family Christmas party, Richard Gutierrez said it’s not true he’s pissed off with GMA-7 as it’s now favoring Marian Rivera’s "Marimar" over his "Kamandag." "Kalokohan ‘yun dahil mas big budget ang action scenes, costumes, sets at special effects ng ‘Kamandag’ kumpara sa ‘Marimar,’" he says. "To promote it, we also have our own battery of top publicists kaya paano sasabihing napapabayaan kami? I’m really happy with ‘Kamandag’ and GMA-7 and I’m doing my best para suklian ang kabaitan nila. Heto nga, umalis lang ako sa taping namin to attend this Christmas party. Eight hours nang kinukunan ang fight scene namin ni Mark Anthony Fernandez who plays Lucero, pero hindi pa rin tapos. I’m also happy for Marian and I’m proud of her that ‘Marimar’ is doing good. Hindi rin kami naaapektuhan ng mga intriga sa amin as we’re now even shooting a Valentine movie, ‘A Very Special Love.’ Enjoy nga ako kasi magaan siyang katrabaho. Mabait pati sa crew. Pinagtatawanan na lang namin ang mga intriga sa amin dahil naiinggit lang siguro sila sa big success ng ‘Kamandag’ at ‘Marimar’ sa ratings."

What can he say now that Alessandra de Rossi has joined the cast of "Kamandag?" "Barkada na kami noon sa ‘Click’ pa kaya excited ako to work with her again."

She says she’s reluctant to have kissing scenes with him as he’s "sobrang guwapo"? "Magtigil nga siya, siya nga itong nagpapa-sexy sa underwear fashion show ng Bench at award-winner na siya."

Is it true he’s now dating his leading lady, Jewel Mische, and they’re often seen together in his car?

"Jewel is very sweet and easy to get along with, so after the taping, sometimes, we have coffee together. Pero hindi madalas yun, mga twice pa lang. Sa cast kasi ‘yung iba kilalang-kilala ko na, unlike her na newcomer pa lang, so ngayon pa lang namin kinikilala ang isa’t isa, which is important kasi we work together almost everyday. Gano’n lang ‘yon."

Next week in "Kamandag," Richard as Vergel continues to elude cops who accuse him of killing Mang Roilo and Maxene Magalona as Lily follows him to the city and they will have new adventures there.

Beauty tycoon Ricky Reyes tendered a party for the press at his mansion in Valle Verde VI, which he said will be up for sale soon (as it’s time for him to move again to a new and more lavish abode), and party organizer Aster Amoyo was surprised because gatecrashers also came to the exclusive affair. It’s good "mother" Ricky had the affair catered so the food didn’t run out even if the guests who came were more than expected.

Mother Ricky is glad that his Philippines Hair Diva Search 2007 is getting very good feedback from viewers and the public in general. There are now seven remaining contenders and they went around offering their services to some residents in Barangay Don Manuel in Quezon City. In return for their services, they asked for clothes, toys, and food from their clients and they will give all the goodies they collected to The Childhouse whose needy wards are their beneficiaries. The show is aired on QTV-11 every Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. Find out who among the remaining candidates will emerge as winner and become the first Philippines Hair Diva.

The director of "Anak ng Kumander," Kaka J. Balagtas, refuted Valerie Concepcion and her manager’s accusation of Manny Pacquiao exploiting Valerie with the torrid kissing scene she did with Manny.

"I just want to make it clear na hindi ko niloko si Valerie dahil kinausap ko muna siya kung payag siya to do the kissing scene with Manny," says Direk Kaka. "Hindi ko nakausap ang managerniya para ipaalam ang gagawing eksena, but Valerie is of age at may sapat ng pag-iisip para mag-desisyon on her own.

"Kung sinabi niyang ayaw niya, hindi ko siya pipilitin.Pumayag siya. Pinaganda ko pa nga ang role niya. Kaya nagtaka ako nang biglang maging issue ang kissing scene. Maling sabihin na Manny used her. Bakit manggagamit si Manny? Isipin nga ni Valerieat ng manager niya kung sino ang mas sikat sa kanilang dalawa? Para hindi nila masabing ang kissing scene nila ang selling point of the movie, we just deleted it para wala na lang mapag-usapan.

"Pero si Valerie, mahigit five times hindi sinipot ang shooting. Manny paid 300 extras for each shooting pero wala siyang narinig na nagreklamo ang producer namin."

Manny says he tries his best to please all the people he works with. "Pinakikisamahan ko silang lahat nang mabuti. Hindi ako galit kay Valerie at sa manager niya. I just realized na hindi lahat ng ipinakikita sa harap ay totoo at maganda kasi iba na ang sinasabi kapag nakatalikod na," he added.

Ara Mina came late to the presscon and sang "Happy Birthday" for Manny. Some people urged her to kiss Manny but she refused. "Hanggang pelikula lang ‘yun, ‘no? Mamaya, maintriga pa ako uli."

Aside from "Anak ng Kumander," Ara is also in the cast of "Selda," a sex-drama megged by Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos of the acclaimed "Ilusyon." Ara plays Sita, the quiet wife of Sid Lucero who plays Rommel, a corn farmer who gets imprisoned for the accidental death of a boy.

Ara has also accepted an offer from ABS-CBN to replace Angelika de la Cruz, who’s moving to GMA-7, in the afternoon soap "Prinsesa ng Banyera." "But I’m not just a panakip-butas here. Ako raw ang lalabas na original Prinsesa ng Banyera."

Wonder what Kristine Hermosa will say about this. Obviously, ABS-CBN believes the presence of Ara in the show will help attract more people to watch it now that its ratings are so low.

Asked if her sister Cristine really reconciled with Dennis Trillo, Ara says she doesn’t want to meddle with her sis’ lovelife. "I don’t ask her. I just wait for her to voluntarily tell me the information. "

Paul Daza is the son of veteran journalist Julie Yap Daza. An ex-member of the Manunuri, he branched out to scriptwriting and now directs for the first time, the "Christmas Tree" episode of "Shake Rattle & Roll 9." His episode is the most successful in scaring viewers who were all screaming when the Christmas tree in the title came to life and turned into a monster that eats people. That scene showing the huge tree swallowing John Lapus alive sent shivers down the spine of many viewers.

"This episode is meant for the whole family so I made sure it’ll be scary but not that scary to traumatize kid viewers," he says. "We don’t want them naman to be scared of all Christmas trees. This is just fiction that makes a Christmas symbol a terrifying thing."

Paul is glad to have this episode to be his directorial debut. "At first, I was scared, but having veteran stars like Boots Anson Roa and Gina Alajar made my work easier. They were very helpful even in helping the kid actors, Nash Aguas and Sophia Baars, in the episode," he said.

With "Christmas Tree" being the scariest episode in "Shake 9," we’re sure Paul will be receiving more offers in the future.
