Ricky Lo’s revelation

Author: Ethel Ramos

IS it the real thing between Bea Alonzo and Mico Palanca? They looked so sweet when they attended the opening of Antonio Hairdressing in Libis, Quezon City. Bea, along with Agot Isidro, cut the ceremonial ribbon at the affair. The lovely actress says she relies on Pin Antonio so she would "look beautiful, not to say, sophisticated."

Pin owns Antonio Hairdressing, which she co-founded with husband Sonny Magundayao.

Bea, 19, now lives independently from her parents, who are occupying the townhouse she purchased in Taguig. She has her own condominium unit in Libis.

Bea and Mico became close after he started texting her when he saw the teaser of Bea?s new teleserye, "Maging Sino Ka Man," with John Lloyd Cruz, Ann Curtis and Sam Milby.

We thought we knew everything about Ricky Lo, entertainment editor of The Philippine Star, and now host of the new showbiz magazine program on QTV 11, "The Ricky Lo Exclusives," until we heard his answer to a question about his sex life asked by fellow movie columnist (and also talk show host) Ogie Diaz.

"Wala nga, eh. Muntik na nga akong magpari. But I know everything from reading," said Ricky.

We have been friends with Ricky for nearly three decades. We know he is religious. We know that Tempo movie columnist Ronald Constantino, another good friend, attend Mass and often visit the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. But for either of them to have nurtured a calling priesthood, parang hindi kapani-paniwala.

Ricky used to host another magazine show, "Showbiz Stripped," which aired on GMA-7 every Saturday, sometimes way past midnight. "Since the topics sometimes discussed about showbiz were controversial, maraming nagre-reklamong nakakatulugan nila ang program," said someone from GMA-7. Thus, the GMA-7 management decided to give Ricky?s show an earlier timeslot. But this time with a new title, "The Ricky Lo Exclusives," and to be aired on its sister channel, QTV-11, at 8:30 in the evening, every Wednesday.

"The proposal set well with Ricky. Kaya nagsimula na angairing ng ?The Ricky Lo Ex-clusives? last Wednesday (February 15). And so far, so good."

The show is expected to divulge the truth, lies and consequences in the lives of showbiz personalities.

This time, however, Ricky will be braver and bolder. In a snappier, braver, deeper and naughtier manner, he will expose the colorful lives of people in showbiz. He will also discuss topics and issues that will excite and capture the interest of his viewers. As in "Showbiz Stripped," he will share blind items and also an editorial on the topic of the week.

As editor and columnist, Ricky has mastered the skill of capturing the most surprising scoops and the most intriguing stories in showbiz. His viewers, therefore, can also expect in-depth showbiz revelations from him.

One reason why Ricky is successful as a movie journalist is because he always respects and protects his subjects. He has never put any of his interviewees in a bad light.

"We make sure that we treat our guests fairly and in a sober manner ginaganap ang discussion. I don?t want a sensational type of show,na ang-a-away ang mga guests. But they will always be given a chance to air their side. In a way confrontational but never violent," Ricky stated.

"I believe that famous people are considered role models. Through my program, I want them to set an example as persons with good attitude and courtesy for others. They should be responsible for the image they project to their fans," he added.
