| Rufa Mae, Mo conflict far from overAuthor: Mario E. Bautista IT'S Holy Week but the conflict between "Showbiz Central" hosts Rufa Mae Quinto and DJ Mo has yet to be settled. It's obvious that they do want to bury the hatchet, but on each other's back. And we don't expect this to end soon now that DJ Mo has decided to answer back after Ruffa Mae called him "bastos" for asking Dr. Vicki Belo in the show about Rufa Mae's alleged affair with Hayden Kho. DJ Mo said Rufa Mae called him bastos because he asked a question about an issue where she's involved. "But what is more bastos, asking that question, or guesting in our rival program (The Buzz)? Host siya sa 'Showbiz Central', but she guested in our competitor. It's unfair to GMA7 and to our audience also. " We're sure Rufa Mae will also make a rebuttal. Unless someone from "Showbiz Central" or the GMA management intervenes and tell them to stop acting like kids, shut up, and just concentrate on their hosting jobs every Sunday afternoon. It's Easter on Sunday, hope they'll finally come to their senses and smoke the peace pipe. We're told some GMA execs are wondering why JC de Vera is now denying that he cried when he learned he won't be doing "SRO Cinemaserye" after he and his manager decided not to accept it. "Ang daming nakakita sa kanya noong umiiyak siya," says one GMA insider. "Pati si Kuya Germs, but now, he's denying it when he even said sa presscon niya noon na hindi naman kabawasan sa pagkalalaki niya kahit umiyak siya. " Is it true GMA execs are disillusioned with him so they're now focusing their sight on another JC, Tiuseco that is? "In fairness to JC Tiuseco, maraming na-impress sa kanya in his first acting job sa 'Karibal' episode ng 'Dear Friend'. He was able to hold his own against more experienced co-stars like Katrina Halili and Alfred Vargas. Hindi lang pala siya pang-Survivor kundi may K ding mag-artista. Even from the viewers, maganda ang feedback sa kanya," adds our source. "Kung magiging masikip na ang mundo ng GMA para sa dalawang JC," quips one writer. FIRST TAG AWARD WINNERS GMA New Media, Inc. (GMANMI) just conducted their first Kapuso Tag Awards for GMA stars and the winner were announced in SOP last Sunday. Kapuso Fan Fave Award - Male - Dingdong Dantes. Female - Marian Rivera. MARIAN, DINGDONG TOGETHER ON EASTER Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes won the most trophies in the Kapuso Tag Awards and they want to thank their fans who voted for them. "Siyempre, utang namin ito sa fans naming matiyagang nag-text para kami manalo," they says. They have no taping for "Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Akin Tadyang" from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday so they're very thankful to get the chance to rest. But no, they won't be spending the Lenten holidays together. Dingdong will be with his family in their farm in Batangas while Marian will be going home to her grandma in Cavite. "But Batangas is so near Cavite so I might be able to go and visit Marian sa lola niya so I can invite her to spend Easter with my family," says Dingdong. What can Marian say about this? "E, di sige. Bahala siya. Basta ako, naging kaugalian na sa'kin to spend Holy Week sa lola ko in Cavite. He'll know where to find me. " "Babaeng Hinugot" got more absorbing this week when Marian as Proserfina proposed marriage to Dingdong as Homer, who accepts it. But Angelu de Leon appears to say she's pregnant and it's her who Homer should marry. She quickly makes a public announcement of their wedding so Proserfina gives up Homer. But this coming Monday, something will happen to Heleen. She'll have a miscarriage and she blames Proserfina for this. She plots to kill Proserfina. NO MORE CHALLENGING ROLE FOR PAOLO? Paolo Contis gives Dingdong Dantes a severe beating in "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang". Dingdong says it's okay with him to be mauled by Paolo as he's a personal friend. "Isa pa, best actor naman 'yan kaya okay na kong magpagulpi sa kanya," he adds. After winning a couple of best actor trophies for his role as a corrupt cop in "Banal," Paolo now gets another challenging role in the DGPI-APT Productions movie, "Litsonero," written and directed by Lore Reyes. The role was originally offered to Richard Gutierrez as his first serious role but due to his hectic schedule shooting "When I Met U" then taping "Zorro", he wasn't able to accept it. "Suwerte ko ngang sa'kin napunta kasi maganda talaga ang role," says Paolo. "I play Fidel, a culinary arts graduate from a Swiss school who's working as a chef in Macau casino hotel. I'm asked by my mom, Maricel Laxa, to come home to our province dahil first death anniversary ng papa ko. Habang nasa hometown namin ako, maraming nangyari. I'm challenged by my uncle, Michael de Mesa, na nalimutan ko na raw ang roots ko. Foreign dishes na lang daw ang alam kong lutuin but not a good local lechon. So pumayag akong mag-apprentice with the town lechon master, Mang Carding, played by Jun Urbano, and in the process, I fall in love with his daughter, si Karylle. Marami pang nangyaring problema sa family namin kaya acting vehicle talaga ito for the title roler of 'Litsonero'. " GOD, WHY? IN the spirit of Lent, we just want to share with you some personal thoughts about the Lord. When my wife Vicky passed away last year, I had this resentment against Him. My wife was such a good person, an exemplary Christian, a caring daughter to her 87 year old mom who she personal took care of until her mom passed away on Jan. 1, 2008. On Jan. 31, my wife collapsed after delivering a lecture in UP and passed away three days later. It's as if her own mission was accomplished after her mom joined our Creator. I couldn't accept it. She has many books and projects on governance and anti-poverty programs used by some of our more conscientious public officials. She has an open hand to help everyone and we were so effective working in tandem in our apostolate with the Marriage Preparation Program. Why get her? I felt like I was crippled. But with the help of my children, my relatives and friends, it dawned on me that the Lord has given me and Vicky 31 beautiful years of married life. Looking back, they're really the best, happiest years of my life, with the Lord giving us countless blessings, the first of which being our faith in Him, followed by our son and daughter, our in-laws, our grandchildren. I have no reason to complain. Who am I to question the Lord for taking back Vicky? In the end, one thing that has been made very clear to me is that I, we, are not in control of our life. Everything is grace. And only God is in control. Dark clouds will always come our way, but let's all look forward to the brightness of resurrection come Easter. May the spirit of Lent that brings reflection and contrition be with you all. Source: People's Journal |
