Ruffa behind John Lloyd-Liz break-up?

Actress Ruffa Gutierrez has denied rumors that she was the reason behind the alleged break-up of actor John Lloyd Cruz and his sweetheart, stylist Liz Uy.

Gutierrez dismissed the issue, saying she was not in any way connected to the hunk actor.

Although Gutierrez is currently not working on any projects involving Cruz, she had worked with him on the now defunct ABS-CBN hit series "I Love Betty La Fea."

"I don't think there's anything to clarify kasi unang una tapos na 'yong 'I Love Betty La Fea.' There's really nothing to talk about kasi the last time I saw him was during the taping of 'I Love Betty La Fea,'" she told ABS-CBNNEWS.com.

"He is not here [in the country and] I don't know where he is. And I think it's funny to be linked to someone who is not even here," the actress and former beauty queen added.

Gutierrez was reacting to e-mails that have circulated alleging that she was behind the Cruz-Uy split.

"I just think that people are just being malicious. How come no one is teasing me to Vhong [Navarro] or si Thou Reyes? Bakit hindi naman kami tinutukso ni Thou?" she said.

Gutierrez said, although it is flattering to be linked to the actor, her alleged involvement in the couple's purported break-up is not true. "It's kinda cute that they are linking me to him, that he is hot and like, a box office star. At least he is not married, but there's really no truth to that (rumors)."

She added that she is "really close" to Uy and that she only wishes that the rumor mongering would end.

Asked if she sees Cruz as "boyfriend material", the actress replied: "Hindi pumasok sa utak ko yon kasi, lahat kami sa 'Betty,' we are all friends. [Kung type ko siya?] I don't want to say that because I don't want to offend anyone."

In his past interview, Cruz confessed that Gutierrez was one of his showbiz crushes, fueling rumors about their alleged affair.

ABS-CBN's weekly entertainment show "The Buzz" reported that Cruz and Uy are still together.
