WHILE the northern town of San Remegio bustles with activities related to its annual fiesta celebration (including the Lapyahan Festival), the nearby town of Bogo also has one activity that is expected to draw crowds with the presence of two of the brightest show biz stars.

For the final draw of A Million Thanks Raffle Promo of Gaisano Main, Country Mall, Balamban and Bogo scheduled
tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. at the Bogo Sports Complex, Rosemarie Gaisano invited pretty young star Bangs Garcia and Cosmo Magazine sexy hunk Paolo Contis to entertain Gaisano Bogo shoppers (including those from nearby places) who had dropped their tickets hoping to bring home the brand new car as grand prize or the home appliances.

Congresswoman Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, as the Hermana Mayor in the recent Mandaue City fiesta, was all around supervising activities including the decoration of the national shrine's interiors and the concert of Asia's Diva and Cebu's pride, Dulce, held at the space right beside the shrine, to name a few.

Dulce staged a full-length show that lasted one hour and 40 minutes. She also shared passages from the bible that were relevant to the songs and the occasion. The space was packed with excited Mandauehanons including balikbayans.

Nostalgia filled the air when Dulce belted out classic Visayan songs including Usahay and Pobreng Alindahaw. As it was two days before Mother's Day, she invited the congresswoman's three children to join her in singing a medley for their mom.

Inday Neri felt so happy with the gesture that she beamingly joined them onstage as a proud mother. Still on the Mother's Day theme, Dulce sang Sa Ugoy ng Duyan, which made many teary-eyed including the shrine's parish priest, Msgr. Adelito Abella, who unabashedly admitted that fact in a text message to the congresswoman.

Here's the complete text message of the monsignor which Rep. Neri shared with me: "Words can't express my gratitude for the superbly unique way you fulfilled your role as Hermana Mayor of our festivities in honor of St. Joseph. I am absolutely sure he was pleased and is now ready to bless us all.

"Please tell Dulce she touched many hearts tonight with her powerful performance. I got teary eyed with the rendition of Ugoy sa Duyan. Thank you for the culture laden and faith filled evening."

I heard it was the first time that such an activity was organized in Mandaue City during the fiesta day itself. Congratulations.

Some of Dulce's songs that elicited not only applause but also participation from the audience were The Power of Your Love, Memory and Ako Ang Nagwagi (the new version), among others.

Her medley of songs taken from famous Broadway musicals, like The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, Starlight Express and others, met thunderous applause and yells of appreciation. Not content with just clapping their hands, some people even stood up and danced during the finale number, an Irene Cara medley of the upbeat songs Flashdance, Fame and The Dream.

Not only was it a culture laden and faith filled evening, as Msgr. Abella puts it: it was fun all through out.
