Sexy stars in a comedy of errors

Five colorful and sexy young women cross paths in one intriguingly interesting night. The lives of the characters portrayed by Katrina Halili, Valerie Concepcion, Jennylyn Mercado, Alessandra de Rossi and Diana Zubiri meet worlds of realistic humor and irony in Octo Arts Films "One Night Only," a Metro Manila Film Festival Philippines (MMFFP) offering this Christmas season.

The universe conspired for and against Jasmine (Katrina), Vicky (Valerie), Elvie (Jennylyn), Angela (Alessandra) and Vivian (Diana), in one of the most unforgettable nights of their lives. How they managed to find themselves in the thick of things was destinys master plan. "One Night Only" is a comedy of errors involving the wacky shenanigans of several characters who end up in the same seedy motel called Lovers Hideaway on the same night.

On top of her game at the moment, Katrina Halili sees her role in "One Night Only" as a much-needed breather. "After having done too much drama on TVs Magdusa Ka and Obra, comedy naman ito na matagal ko nang gustong gawin." She went on, "In fact, parang mas gusto ko nang gawin ang comedy. Nung una drama pero ngayong nalaman ko na sobrang enjoy ang comedy, type ko na."

Valerie said the more revealing parts of the movie are revealed in the dialogues. "Sexy but harmless yung story but you should watch out for the language we used here. Yun ang talagang nakatawa. Naughty in a way, but very funny. Kahit kami tawa kami nang tawa pag pinapanood naming ang rushes."

For the come-backing Jennylyn Mercado, she intended to do something light for a showbiz return after giving birth to her son by former boyfriend Patrick Garcia. "I needed the break. I wanted to come back and do something like this first bago ako sumabak sa mas seryosong roles. Para maiba naman. I missed working at the same time, Im adjusting kasi halos one year din akong hindi nag- taping."

Alessandra meanwhile plays a reserved girl from the province. "Hindi naman na bago sakin ang maging probinsyana sa pelikula pero may twist kasi yung character ko dito as Angela na dapat nilang abangan."

On the other hand, Diana Zubiri has been used to trading punch lines with her co-stars in the weekly "Bubble Gang." "Only this time, nandun yung sexy element sa movie na ito which is very fun to do." This is also Dianas first movie outside Seiko Films. "Ako at si Francine (Prieto)na ang last of the Seiko babies so this is really something new to me and Im enjoying myself in a romantic comedy film na puwedeng panoorin ng lahat."

"One Night Only" is the official entry to the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival from Octo Arts Films written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes. This five-in-one romantic comedy also stars Ricky Davao, Paolo Contis, Jon Avila, Joross Gamboa, Ogie Diaz, Chokoleit, and Manilyn Reynes.

According to the people behind the movie, the characters of the five girls were fleshed out to fit their personalities. The leading cast members all agreed that each girl plays parts with equal exposures. "Lahat naman kami dito maganda yung role and the different characters only allowed the film to present different strokes of comedy," the girls chorused.
