| Shaina warns John about RRAuthor: Mario E. Bautista AFTER his stint in "Tiny Tony" on Saturdays, John Prats is glad that he'll now be seen in the daily afternoon comedy series, "Parekoy", to be shown starting today after "Wowowee" and before "Pieta". He stars with Zanjoe Marudo and Jayson Gainza and they play half brothers who are named Susmaryosep for Jesus (Jayson), Mario (Zanjoe) and Joseph (John. ) "This is a good start in 2009 for me," John says. "May bago agad akong show. Natapos naman ang 2008 na kasama ako in a hit movie, 'Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat' where I'm paired with Shaina Magdayao. " It's not only his career that's doing well but also his lovelife. He's now more open about his relationship with Shaina. "I'm serious in really caring about her. If God would will it, siya ang gusto kong iharap sa altar when the right time comes. Pero huwag nyo kong tatanungin kung kailan dahil malayo pa 'yun. Siguro when I'm 30 and she'd be 25 by then. " They were together on Christmas and New Year's Day. "I had dinner with their family. I gave her a framed special picture of her na ako mismo ang kumuha sa set ng 'Tanging Ina' when we were shooting it. " He says he has no complaints at all about Shaina other than her being "selosa". "When she learned gine-guest ako in 'Banana Split', ayaw niya kasi si RR Herrera, lahat daw ng guest dun, hinahalikan. But if you'd watch it, RR failed with me. She tried to kiss pero umiwas ako para huwag magselos si Shaina. " John has had past girlfriends before like Heart Evangelista and the daughter of basketball coach Frankie Lim named Miyaka. It was only when he was paired with Maja Salvador in Ultimate Dance Four that he got close to Shaina, who was then paired with Rayver Cruz. "Nag-umpisa 'yun na nag-uusap kami sa phone at inaabot ng ilang oras dahil enjoy kami talking to each other. I asked her kung boyfriend niya si Rayver and she said no. I asked Rayver kung puwede kong ligawan si Shaina and he said, no problem. So 'yun. " He looks forward to working with Shaina in "Sanlakas", a show where all the superheroes featured in "Mars Ravelo's Komiks" will be joining forces ala-Justice League. "Pero ma-tagal pa 'yun kasi after Shaina in 'Dragonna', meron pang 'Flash Bomba' si Luis Manzano. " Working with Zanjoe and Jayson in "Parekoy" is a breeze. "Nagkasundo na kami sa 'Aalog-Alog' pa lang kaya para talaga kaming close barkada. Si Jayson lang ang may asawa rito, si Angelu de Leon, and they have two kids. Kami ni Zanjoe, wala pang leading ladies. " Katrina Halili left with boyfriend Kris Lawrence to the U. S. on Dec. 30 to greet the New Year in L. A. and celebrate her birthday there on January 4. She'll be back here today to tape for "Gagambino". Before she left, she granted an interview to "Startalk" about her (illicit) affair with Hayden Kho. She says it's not true she's going to the U. S. to escape from the controversy. "I don't need to escape as I'm not affected," she says. "There's no reason para ako maapektuhan dahil matagal na 'yun, February or March pa last year natapos. Even si Kris, balewala na sa kanya kasi matagal ko nang naikuwento ang lahat sa kanya and it happened long before naging kami. " She admits, though, that she felt hurt when Hayden said their short-lived relationship was just for fun and involved no emotions. "Nabastusan ako at nasaktan doon kasi lahat ng relasyon ko, sineryoso ko at di ako nakikipaglokohan lang. Pero wala akong magagawa kung ang naging feeling niya, nakipaglokohan lang siya sa'kin. But it was then I realized na what happened was the biggest mistake I made in my life, na hindi lang naman pala ako ang niloko niya. Marami pala kaming for fun lang sa kanya. Magaling kasi siyang magsalita. I won't mention names, basta alam kong marami kami, pero ako lang ang inamin niya at ako lang ang nilaglag niya. Just like Dr. Belo, biktima rin niya ako kasi umibig ako sa maling tao at talagang pinagsisisihan ko 'yun. " Whether she admits it or not, this skeleton that came out of her closet has tarnished Katrina's name and reputation for biting the hand that feeds her. She's an endorser of Belo and she knows Hayden is the boyfriend of Dr. Vicki, and still, she played with fire in having a fling with him. We don't know if OctoArts will still push through with their plan for her to star in the remake of "Miss X" as this issue has a very negative effect on her career. And for sure, this has not ended yet. Upon her return, this will continue, especially now that Hayden was also interviewed and he says he didn't mean to hurt Katrina saying it's just for fun. "What I mean is that, bilang lalaki, parang you get involved but you know, hindi magtatagal at eventually, magkakahiwalay rin naman kayo. At that time, gawa lang ako nang gawa without thinking kung tama ba 'yung ginagawa ko o hindi. " As of now, the loudest whisper is that Dr. Vicki Belo found Hayden so irresistible that she has forgiven him and they've patched things up. But it's said she won't admit this yet in public as her two kids, Quark and Crystalle Henares, are both against it. They've seen how brokenhearted their mom is and they don't want her to suffer again. But you know when a woman is in love, she is blind to all warnings. If this were true, then the title of Katrina's last afternoon teleserye suits her perfectly: "Magdusa ka!" MARK NOT SERIOUS ON RECONCILING WITH JEN ANOTHER loud whisper we heard is the impending reconciliation of Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado. It's said that they had a heart to heart talk when they did a show together in Dubai and at the recent Kapuso 2009 Countdown at the Mall of Asia, they were looking so sweet to each other. "Panay ang lambingan nila backstage," says someone. "Talagang nagkalapit na uli ang loob nilang dalawa at panay na naman daw ang dalaw ni Mark sa bahay ni Jen. " But someone close to Mark swears he's not keen on going back to Jen. "Gimmick lang 'yan to drum up interest for their new afternoon soap, 'Paano Ba ang Mangarap'. Kung noon ngang wala pang anak si Jennylyn, nakipag-break si Mark sa kanya, ngayon pang nanay na siya? Hindi pa ready si Mark sa ganyang responsibilidad at para lang siyang kumuha ng batong ipupukpok sa ulo niya. " GOOD FOR AI AI, BUT. .. WE'RE glad Ai Ai de Alas has come up with another hit in "Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat," the bonafide filmfest topgrosser. It will be recalled that her last movie, "Ikaw Pa Rin," with Robin Padilla yet, didn't do so well at the box office. But we've seen "Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat" and, honestly, it's so disappointing. The first one is definitely much better and funnier. This one was hilarious only in the beginning but it quickly loses its steam and becomes cornier and lousier as the movie went on. By the time she's been elected president, it has become so boring as they no longer know how to make the proceedings more interesting. Ai Ai makes one booboo after another as president. To begin with, how she got to be elected as president is not at all believable. She just said she has evidence that the vice president plotted the murder of the current president (Gloria Diaz) then the VP (Director Wenn Deramas' very special protegee, DJ Durano) quickly challenged her, from out of the blue, to a snap election! Granted that this movie employs broad comedy, still, they have to make the turns of plot credible for us to enjoy it. There are so many other illogicalities in it that detract from making it truly entertaining. It's truly a poor laugh getter. To begin with, Ai Ai is not even a good mother to her kids in the story and it's easy to see her kids know this with the way they treat her. (They don't even remember her birthday. ) We see families with their young children in tow watching the movie and, honestly, its humor is not even for kids who won't appreciate it's distorted salawikain or proverbs and the quotes it parodies from movies like "Caregiver", "Flor Contemplacion Story" and "Sister Stella L. " Ai Ai is just lucky that the movie still made it as numero uno despite its countless flaws. So we're sure Star Cinema won't mind even if we find their entry quite execrable. The important thing is that it made money and to hell with negative reviews. But it's pretty obvious that the MMDA, who's managing the filmfest, has something against them. When their entry "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" was the most deserving to win as best picture, it was declared that the prize will go to the topgrosser. Now that, their "Tanging Ina" is the topgrosser, the rules are changed again and the award is given to the movie they think is the most deserving of the best pic award, "Baler". It's apparent that there is no longer any clear-cut criteria being followed in selecting the best picture and it's all left totally to the whims of the people running the filmfest.
