| Sharon discovers her funny sideAuthor: Isah V. Red Sharon Cuneta fans have always seen her in drama, and never in comedy. That is why going to the set of Bff (Best Friends Forever) by Wenn Deramas was not very easy for her. Not only was she going to do comedy, which she says is not her forte, but she was also going to be in the same scenes with AiAi de las Alas, known in show business as the Comedy Queen. I found it a little weird, Sharon said during the press conference for the movie, that I would be doing a comedy in my present physical state [she is heavyweight, mind you] and with people who have been doing this all their lives. I was literally a neophyte. Yet, her apprehension that she might be way below the energy level of was no more than an overreaction. According to Wenn Deramas, Sharon displayed an inherent comic sense that really surprised him. You know, shes not just aware of it, but she is really funny. Sobrang nakakatawa, the director exclaimed. So, when he put the one and only Megastar and the one and only Comedy Queen in a movie, what will the audience get? Deramas said with confidence, Riot, of course! This is Sharon Cuneta and Comedy Queen AiAi de las Alass first project together in a movie and Deramas could only scream, I have a casting coup! Only Star Cinema can possibly put this one together. In BFF (Best Friends Forever), Sharon and AiAi play the best of friends who stick to each other through thick and think. What they discover about each other later gives the impetus for the film to be rollicking in laughter. John Estrada plays a cabbie that has dos familias. BFF is Sharons first comedy after a long time, the last having been Jack en Jill in which she played tomboy Jack to Herbert Bautistas Sissy Jill. Its a good breather for me, admitted Sharon, whose last starrer, also for Star Cinema, was the heavy-drama Caregiver where she played a caregiver working in London. Ive been looking forward to working with AiAi. Most of the Filipino movies in my iPod are those of AiAis. They are really very entertaining, [Naka] Kakatuwa[ng] panoorin. AiAis last movie, also from Star Cinema, was Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat which was the top-grosser in last years Metro Manila Filmfest, directed by Wenn who is todays unchallenged Box-Office Comedy Director credited for most of the companys comedy hits. From way back, said AiAi, Ive been saying that I would be honored to do a movie with Mega. Maski noong 1980s, talagang pinapanood ko na ang mga pelikula niya. Judging from the way Sharon and AiAi rib each other in the trailer and in interviews, touching on the very physical, you can see what a riotous two-hour belly-aching experience is in store for moviegoers. Sharon pokes fun at AiAis prominent chin and AiAi retaliates by doing the same at Sharons excess poundage. Walang pikunan trabaho lang. The movie opens nationwide on May 13 as Star Cinemas Mothers Day offering. Bud Brothers saga starts today Precious Hearts Romances Presents presents the Bud Brothers Series, written by Rose Tan.
