Sharon okay with KC getting pregnant

Entertainment journalists love Megastar Sharon Cuneta for being the ultimate interviewee. She does not only volunteer information, but she gives them in heaps. At the press conference of her Megathirty grand 30th showbiz anniversary concert to be held at the Araneta Coliseum on Aug. 8, she did not only share, but shocked the mostly jaded writers present. Wearing a new ‘do with bangs, she revealed that she’s unaware of KC Concepcion’s activities. She did not know her daughter would wear bikinis in a Bayo spread and that she had bought a condo unit. She did not even know that she’s going to Greece to shoot the Star Cinema movie For the First Time with Richard Gutierrez. She also announced that Richard Gomez has replaced Aga Muhlach in her next movie with Star Cinema, and she’s going to do a movie with Gov. Vilma Santos next year, also with Star Cinema. After doing them and movies with Dolphy and Robin Padilla, she revealed that she would then be ready to retire. She added KC to the shortlist. Although she does not want Gabby Concepcion to watch Megathirty, she credited him for giving KC Concepcion the artistic genes of her great grandfather, Juan Arellano. And here’s the clincher: In case KC gets pregnant out of wedlock, it’s okay with her as long as she gets the baby. But she thinks KC will not allow this to happen to herself as she has declared not to be the marrying type. A trip down memory lane, the Megathirty concert will have Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera as main guests with KC as special guest. Tickets are available at TicketNet outlets (911-5555) and Artist House (817-4660/815-1953). The big question: Will ace choreographer Douglas Nieras make Sharon dance? It’s the show’s biggest surprise!

Breaking buzz: Despite the off-the-camera PDA (public display of affection), Sandra Chavez, KC’s manager, says she thinks KC and Richard are not yet boyfriend/girlfriend.

Jiro a father at 16?

There’s a blind item about an award-winning teen actor who made his girlfriend pregnant. The educated guess is that he is Jiro Manio, who admitted he’s been sexually active since he was 12 years old. He admits having an older girlfriend. Jiro, however, denied he is said actor during Cinema One Originals press conference. He stated, “Hindi po. Hindo po puwedeng mangyari. Hindi po kami masyadong nagkikita ngayon. Nagko-concentrate po ako sa career ko at sa pag-aaral.” Jiro is a graduating high school student. He plans to take up Hotel and Restaurant Management and major in Culinary Arts at the College of St. Benilde when he graduates next year. He’s one of the three boys in Tambolista, who gets caught in Tondo’s dog-eat-dog existence. It is directed by Adolf Alix Jr. and also features Sid Lucero and Coco Martin. It will start to screen at Robinsons Galleria’s Indisine on Aug. 27. Jiro’s acting career is clearly picking up. He’s cast in Wenn Deramas’ Ang Tanging Ina N’yo Lahat where he reprises his role as Shammy in the original version.

Breaking buzz: Jiro said Marvin Agustin and Heart Evangelista were removed from the cast since they are no long Kapamilya stars.

Gov. Vilma not doing ‘Independencia’

Director Raya Martin confirmed to Buzzstation during the Cinema One Originals press conference that Batangas governor Vilma Santos will not be able to shoot the period movie Independencia due to heavy work schedule. Raya attended the event as a guest of director Adolf Alix Jr. Raya won a P1 million grant from the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund Fall 2007 for the Independecia script, which is about a mother and her son during the American occupation of the country. He explained Governor Vi begged off because she has to prioritize her commitment to shoot a movie for Star Cinema in October. They are currently looking for a replacement as they have to shoot the movie as stipulated in the contract with the company giving the grant. Raya adds, “That’s okay. I’ll do a movie with her next year when she’s available.”

Why Direk GB is mum about Roxanne

Boy & Kris director GB Sampedro’s first name is the initials of his Italian name Guiseppe Bede. He is a Colegio de San Juan de Letran accounting graduate who apprenticed with GMA director Louie Ignacio to become an award-winning director. During the press conference of Toni Gonzaga’s debut concert, GB gave the wrong signal when his daughter arrived at Gerry’s Grill restaurant accompanied by a pretty woman. The daughter turned out to be his, while the woman turned to be his daughter’s yaya. If he does not want to confirm if he’s courting Wowowee guest-host and Ligaw na Bulaklak lead star Roxanne Guinoo, that’s because his marriage is in the process of being annulled. He and his wife separated three years ago. No decision has been issued. And like all couples undergoing marriage annulment, they are told not to discuss the case in public. So he’s not happily married after all. Is he courting Roxanne? There’s a possibility, but a direct answer will not come from him, at least, for the moment.

CD launch turns into farewell gig

The Company member turned Real Talent Entertainment Company solo artist Reuben Laurente launched his 13-track CD Heartblends Soothing Renditions by Rueben Laurente at Hard Rock Café Makati last night. But as revealed by him towards showcase’s end, he’s leaving for Miami, Florida, on Aug. 4 to be a featured singer on Mariner of the Seas of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. He’ll be away for five months to perform in South America, the western Caribbean islands and Los Angeles with an all-American band. Anna Fegi (she’s back from the Disney Hong Kong stint since a year ago) will be the other featured singer, but she’ll leave on July 22. Reuben is not too happy about leaving, but he has no other choice, hoping the public will buy his CD.

From the pop songs of his PopVirsuosity CD, he shifts to comforting songs in Heartblends, 1970s to 1990s releases given wonderful new arrangements by Marc Santos. Songs included are “Too Many Walls,” “It Must Have Been Love,” “If Ever You Change Your Mind,” “All At Once,” “I Honestly Love You,” “Miss You Like Crazy,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “Never Give Up,” “Wishing On The Same Star,” “Never Should Have Let You Go,” “I’ll Never Get Over You,” “Out Here On My Own” and “Words Get In The Way.” This CD must be another award-winning work from Rueben.

Vic did not put a big one over Willie

King of Comedy Dolphy will do a duet with Vic Sotto in the musical tribute “The King of Comedy Dolphy at 80” in his honor to be held on July 31, 7 p.m., at Meralco Theater. Is this a case of a Kapuso star putting a big one over Kapamilya stars? Not so, according to ABS-CBN Corporate Communications head Bong Osorio. He explains, “They are promoting their new movie. Willie (Revillame) will escort Mang Dolphy from the audience area to stage for the final number. That’s the tribute’s highlight.” To be directed by hotshot helmer Alco Guerrero, other featured artists are Kuh Ledesma, Bituin Escalante, Sarah Geronimo, Iya Villania, Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Jed Madela, Charice, Sam Milby, Robert Seña, Sheryn Regis, Ronnie Liang, Ai Ai delas Alas, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang, Rachelle Ann Go, Richard Poon, Erik Santos, Audie Gemora, Roderick Paulate, Archie Alemanya, Carmi Martin, Toni Gonzaga and ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio. Said tribute will be Sunday’s Best feature for Aug. 3.

Adolf says he has paid up

Tambolista director Adolf Alix Jr. disowned the talents running after him for unpaid fees. The Buzz is that he left many talent fees unsettled, that’s why many of the in-front and back-of camera talents who worked with him are badmouthing him. He said he has settled all dues for the movies he produced. But if there are Batanes talents who have not been paid, he has nothing to do with them as he was also a talent in the movie. He explained this is due to the movie’s high production cost and failure to earn money. He’s helping these talents get paid by talking to the producer. By his own account, he’s doing eight movies this year, some of which will be screened next year. This includes the Piolo Pascual starrer, the twinbill Manila, one part directed by Raya Martin, inspired by Lino Brocka’s Jaguar and Ishmael Bernal’s Manila by Night. He is also slated to shoot the Freedom Island movie with Thai actor Ananda Everingham in October.

Jerrold swears he will not act again

“I promise I will not act again,” Confessional director Jerrold Tarog stated during the Cinema One Originals presscon. He said this, I think, as a reaction to the jeering he has been getting for not winning Best Actor despite the various nominations. Co-director Ruel Antipuesto encouraged him to take the lead character role when the non-professional actor they tapped backed out. In fact, Jerrold hired Ruel to take care of direction while he acted. But the decision worked! Jerrold’s acting contributed largely to the movie’s documentary approach as he made the character believable and his non-star quality made viewers suspend disbelief. For sure, Confessional will win more awards here and abroad. Who knows a movie award-giving body will find merit in his acting to declare him Best Actor? Jerrold, by the way, says he is presently “knocking doors” for his second full-length feature to be made, a romance story that will shock in the ending. Publio Briones III, who plays the former-mayor role in Confessional, will be part of the cast. Confessional will start screening in Robinsons Galleria’s Indisine on Aug. 13.

Claudine faces Angel

Claudine Barretto finally faced Angel Locsin in a closed door meeting at the Star Cinema office Wednesday night with ABS-CBN executives Cory Vidanes, Malou Santos, Mariole Alberto and Roxy Liquigan. She arrived with Raymart Santiago. Angel arrived solo, followed by manager Becky Aguila. The official statements issued by Star Magic’s Rikka Dylim and Roxy confirmed Buzzstation’s report the July 4 incident at a Quezon City salon have been “blown out of proportion by certain camps,” as Roxy puts it.

Maja’s manager stays after all

Chit Ramos remains as Maja Salvador’s manager. According to Chit, she was not replaced by Star Cinema’s Malou Santos. She explained, “Ma’am Malou told me she allowed me to simmer down before she made the clarification.” This is the reason Chit has been saying she will remain as Maja’s manager until 2009 only despite having kissed and made up during the internment of Chit’s mother. She said Geoff Eigenmann has been singled out to be Maja’s leading man in her first teleserye starrer Moon River. Jay-R Siaboc will no longer be her tandem partner after Kapitan Boom, which bows out today, to be replaced by Varga, a Mariel Rodriguez starrer. Chit also said Maja has received permission to star in a made-for-television movie GNG (Goals and Guns) to be produced by ABC for the Malaysian-owned company Primedia. When done, it will broadcast in ABC weekly.
