| She loves me, he loves me notAuthor: Edsel-Thadeus O. Lorete However fate chooses to define the choices for us, relationships carry their random share of ups and downs. And the season of hearts, on whichever side of the rolling wheel your fate lies, is a ripe time for change, to evolve with other searching souls. Karylle and Ryan Agoncillo, with whom I had chances of conversing, reflect my case in point. Karylle is still hurting from her break-up with Dingdong Dantes, an issue the singer would rather not talk lengthily about for now. Ryan is enjoying the fruits of love, a strong and functional relationship with Judy Ann Santos. It is a personal issue he does not mind discussing with the entertainment press. Juday and I are different yet very similar in ways we see ourselves together. Opposite attracts ika nga was Ryans humble definition of a successful celebrity relationship. Karylle, on the other hand, may be broken-hearted, but shes learning positively from a wrongly maturing relationship that failed to fit. I bury myself in work these days. I mix recording and singing with my band. Love, so far, has no place in it. It is better coping this way was Karylles punctuated remark on queries regarding her decision to proceed, loveless, with her Valentines Day concert at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel. I find it therapeutic when people, whenever I sing for them in public, positively respond to my performance. It is overwhelming to be heard and be welcomed. Karylle is easily touched by the way some people reach out to her. I am showered with the greatest sympathy, understanding and even love from people who deeply feel what I am going through right now. That provides Karylle the absolute strength to deal with her emotional pains, which can be difficult to deal with alone and under pressure. Karylle is no saint, but she honestly tries to move on as quickly as possible. She has matured in a way most actresses or singers her age fail altogether. Ryan is moving on as well from bachelorhood. He busies himself swaying the public eye from prying into his marriage plans, which was hyped up again by Ryan and Judays admission to move in their new house south of Manila this February. The last thing we want is to turn this marriage into a public spectacle for superstars. We want it to be simple, fun and spent happily surrounded by people we love, Ryan seriously insisted. In as much as Ryan is personally convinced that he is ripe for marriage, I asked him whether he was ready to put his wife first before everything else. I have been doing that since we became a couple. It does not change anything when we get married. As much as Karylle would want to share her enthusiasm about marriage, the singer expressed interest in joining or establishing a self-group for women coping with bad relationships. I know that one day all these (problems) will come to pass, but it needs time to heal. Meeting women like me is a welcome option, said Karylle. This does not mean shes closing her doors to suitors. Ryan believes that attraction is basic in all human beings. Getting attracted to other women, in the same manner Juday may be attracted to other men, is natural. It happens all the time. How does that prospect work with entertainment personalities and couples? Ryan replied, It is a matter of explaining the situation clearly to your spouse. Open communication is the key. Karylles view differs in the way Ryan will have possibly dated other entertainment personalities after a bad break-up. The singer gets mixed calls from old flames and new suitors. Yes, I have my share of that. They are very supportive. My situation, however, does not merit another relationship, a blushing Karylle shared. Karylle maintains she is open to changes, but it may take a while for her to fall in love again. Perhaps singing Beatles tracks, which Karylle loves to hum, on Valentines Day will do the trick for the pretty singer. I intend to sing one break-up song. You can find out which during my show. Asked what her immediate reaction would be should Dingdong bump into her in a shopping mall the next day, she burst in a laughter and said, I will not be in the mall tomorrow. Ill be busy recording. It wont happen! Successful ties Ever since Karylles break-up with Dingdong Dantes or Ryan Agoncillos engagement to Judy Ann Santos last year, the two television personalities careers have skyrocketed to the top. Ryan juggles his time appearing in daytime dramas and hosting a reality show and a talent show, Fear Factor and Talentadong Pinoy, in two television channels. Karylle, following her surprise decision to bare more skin to complement her modeling stint with Bench and several glossy magazines, launched an album in which she performs with a band of her own. I dont know how I manage all these schedules, but it is working for me and I do like it when I am busy, challenged. Ryan proudly said. TV 5s Talentadong Pinoy is a talent show, which Ryan said, gives due respect to any talent in all of us. The weekend shows success is attributed to TV 5s decision to pull in the talent and production team behind the defunct show Philippine Idol. It is an original Pinoy concept that has found its way into the masas heart. We are on our third season. TV 5 is expanding the show by taking it on a school tour in Metro Manila. Karylle, despite receiving numerous invitations to appear in several independent film projects, denied taking any interest in doing sexy or daring roles. The lucrative offer stands. She hinted that the sexy role shes done so far is strictly limited to glossy print and billboard exposure. What is important is that Karylle has found a bankable niche of her own. She has learned to detach herself personally from a business that casually pays its dues on the merit of success of famed personalities. Ryan is an A-list personality in the entertainment industrys eye because of Juday, who does not mind sharing half the public attention she enjoys provided Ryan remains a loyal partner.
