Showbiz couple's marriage on the rocks

Author: Aster Amoyo
Column: If I Know

THE marriage of this celebrity couple is now on the verge of collapse.

Although the couple are still living under one roof, the arrangement is merely `for show' to let their children and the people believe that their marriage is still intact.

But this is not so because the (un) couple are no longer sharing a bed and the guy is now seeing another woman (from a prominent family). With their present set-up, don't you think that the guy is being unfair not only to his wife and children but also the woman (who is very much single) he's dating now?

WELL-LOVED KRING KRING

EVEN before she entered showbiz in the mid`80s, Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez was already a well-loved person because of her warm and pleasant personality. Despite her mestiza looks, Kring-Kring (as she's fondly called by her family and friends) has always been a nice person inside and out and she carries this beautiful trait up to now that she's a fulfilled wife to Tacloban City mayor Alfred Romuladez, mother to two lovely daughters Sophia and Diana, daughter to her equally celebrity parents, big sister to her younger siblings, friend, businesswoman and the number one councilor to her constituents in Tacloban where she was was voted number one in the first district.

"My entering politics was not planned at all," she beams. "Since I was helping my husband, everybody prodded me to run also and fortunately, I also won along with Alfred. Now, we're working as a team in serving our district."

For two consecutive years now, we've been attending the yearly fiesta celebration of Tacloban City which falls on June 30 through the invitation of Mayor Alfred and Kring-Kring Romualdez. The week-long festivities in the city were spearheaded by the couple capped by the yearly star-studded Sangyaw festival parade last June 29 where former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos led an array of political and showbiz personalities.

Spotted in the parade were Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, former Senate President Manny Villar, former Representatives Imee Marcos, Gilbert Remulla, and Rempee Bonotoc, Isabela Santiago Mayor Emma Navarro, Rep. Martin Romualdez, ex-sweethearts Dingdong Dantes and Karylle, Luis Manzano and Christian Bautista among others. We also witnessed the Miss Tacloban Search at the Tacloban Astrodome where Gabby Concepcion, Richard Reynoso, Evangeline Pascual, Melanie Marquez and Jestoni Alarcon were among ther special guests. There was also Little Miss Tacloban where child singer-actor Makisig Morales acted as host.

We consider Tacloban as our second home, not only because we have some relatives and friends there but because it is only three hours away by land trip to our hometown in Borongan, Eastern Samar.

Tacloban, being a highly urbanized city is now the center of commerce in Eastern Visayas. The Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport is set for improvement in two years and more and more business establishments are being erected in the city, the newest of which is Robinson's-Tacloban and in a few year's time, SM-Tacloban.

"Alfred and I are happy that we are part of the ongoing progress of Tacloban," beams Kring-Kring.

SAM SNATCHING ANGEL FROM LUIS?

Sam Milby admits that Angel Locsin was his ultimate crush even before he joined PBB but he is not the type of a person who will snatched Angel from her boyfriend, Luis Manzano who is not only a colleague but also a friend and a Kapamilya.

The Fil-Am singer-actor is glad that he had a chance to finally work with Angel in the top-rating primetime soap, "Only You" which also stars Diether Ocampo.

"The opportunity to work with Angel is a big honor," he beams. "I hope we can also work together in a movie."
