ONE of the best music videos we have seen is Luluha Ka Rin as performed by Simon Wood. We congratulate Paul Basinilo for directing and capturing the innermost feeling of a man longing and aching for love.

Before the debut album, Simon's only claim to popularity is being the son of former Jukebox King, Victor Wood. With the release of his self-titled CD, the 2l-year-old proved that he can stand on his own.

It helped that he chose Luluha Ka Rin as the carrier cut. It was one of his father's biggest hits also known as Malupit na Pag-ibig. Simon gave the haunting song a "rock"twist that set it apart from the original version.

For one so young it made us wonder how Simon succeeded in interpreting it with so much passion and pain probably only his father would know the meaning of when he composed the song decades ago.

We could only surmise that he breathes life to the song from the eyes of someone who has witnessed the pain rather than experiencing it.

With the support of Viva's big boss Vic del Rosario and the good feedback the CD is getting, Simon is definitely headed for the big time. Viva insiders believe that he is the next big thing in the recording scene.

That should make his father who up to now remains a controversial figure very, very proud.

ALFRED CHARMS NAGA BELLES

ALL the "eves" of Naga City swooned as they watched the Walker show where the focus of interest was hunk actor Alfred Vargas recently. It isn't everyday that you see Alfred romping in his Walker underwear.

Alfred and Dingdong Dantes are two of GMA's prized possessions who feel very confident with their bodies especially when exposed. Both have become centerfold figures in men's magazines. They also happen to be two of the unmarried sexiest men alive in local showbiz.

After the fashion show, fans posed with Alfred and told him how much they enjoy his teleserye, All About Eve.

RICHARD GETS 'GREEN' AWARD

ONE of the recipients of Fr. Neri Satur Award for Environmental Heroism is actor Richard Gutierrez.

Given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Presidential Task Force on Climate Change, the award was established to honor Fr. Satur, a young priest in Bukidnon deputized as a forest ranger and became active in arresting illegal loggers. In 199l, he was shot dead in his church—a hero and martyr of the environment.

Richard treasures the award so much as it makes him feel a hero off screen. But he hastens to add there's a lot more he should do to really deserve the title "environmental hero".

Another thing the actor is thankful for is that despite some negative publicity, Zorro remains the top primetime show on GMA.
