AFTER turning 15 unforgettable classic movies into top-rating TV shows, GMA Network is set to provide two more explosive programs as part of the Network's last quarter salvo for Sine Novela in 2009.

For the first time in the history of afternoon drama, Sine Novela presents the back-to-back premiere of Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit and Tinik Sa Dibdib on September 28.

Featuring multi-awarded actress Sunshine Dizon and multi-faceted actress Iza Calzado, the back-to-back TV series will surely fire up the afternoons as the shows bring to light the struggle of two women to escape poverty and family as they search for happiness and try to fulfill their dreams.

Occupying the first timeslot is Sine Novela presents Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit where Pinay Hollywood actress Iza Calzado plays the role of Clarissa Rosales, an impoverished social climber who will do everything to be well-heeled no matter what the cost.

This was the character originally played by Diamond Star Maricel Soriano in the Maryo J. delos Reyes masterpiece in 1984.

In the story, Clarissa vows to become rich someday to alleviate the life of her mother Naty (Lani Mercado) and her sister Nancy (Angelika dela Cruz). The opportunity to be rich knocks on their door one day when the Gardamonte couple, employer of Clarissa's deceased father, decided to help them.

Clarissa will use her charm to win the hearts of Ralph (Ricardo Cepeda) and Monina (Pinky Amador) who will soon treat her as one of their family members. Such fine treatment causes the ire of the couple's one and only daughter Therese (Isabel Oli).

Therese will make Clarissa's life difficult. Since Clarissa has been deprived of a convenient life, she will endure everything because this is her only chance of enjoying things such as clothes, shoes, food, shelter, jewelry and even the company of Therese's boyfriend Daryll (Wendell Ramos).

But despite the luxuries and comfortable life, Clarissa still wants more. Unfortunately, as Clarissa aims for a more convenient life to help her family, she ends up alienating them. Is there anyone who can stop Clarissa? Can love overcome the power of greed and money?

Also in Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit are Bobby Andrews, Paolo Paraiso, Ryan Yllana, Victor Aliwalas and Peter Serrano. Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit is under the direction of Topel Lee.

Sine Novela presents Tinik Sa Dibdib occupies the second timeslot. It features the award-winning actress Sunshine Dizon. Sunshine plays the ill-fated character of Lorna, a woman who has been longing for freedom, happiness and a normal life. She will try to escape from her dysfunctional family by getting married but finds herself in a more complicated situation.

Superstar Nora Aunor portrayed the role of Lorna in the film directed by Leroy Salvador in 1985.

Under the direction of Gil Tejada Jr., Tinik sa Dibdib unveils the plight of Lorna who works to support her family. Her father, Tiburcio (Bembol Roco), is a drunkard and a womanizer while her mother, Candida (Daria Ramirez), is sick and weak-willed.

To avoid exasperating domestic problems, she agrees to work as a stay-in helper in a beauty parlor where she meets the security guard named Lando (Marvin Agustin). Soon, the two fall in love and get married.

Lorna believes that her marriage will be the key to the happiness, freedom and normal life she wants. Little did she know that her marriage with Lando will be the beginning of the most excruciating days of her life.

Soon she discovers that living with Lando and his family is more agonizing than living with her own family. From the day she sets foot in Lando's house, she has always been in bad terms with Lando's stepmother Trixie (Ara Mina) while Trixie's sister, Moret (Michelle Madrigal), keeps telling her to move out.

Later, Lorna will understand why Moret wants her to leave the house. A deep dark secret will be exposed that will ruin the marriage she considers the only source of her happiness. Will it be too late for Lorna to leave? Is misery written in Lorna's fate? Will she ever find love and happiness she really needs?

Also in Tinik sa Dibdib are Deborah Sun, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Jen Rosendahl, Rico Barrera and Miguel Tanfelix.

Sine Novela presents Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit and Tinik sa Dibdib start this afternoon after Daisy Siete on GMA Network's Dramarama sa Hapon.
