Stairway to Heaven will air pilot episode on September 14

Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos are cast as the Pinoy Cholo and Pinay Jodi in the upcoming GMA-7 primetime TV series Stairway to Heaven.

For many, the magic that exists with finding the one and only person destined to be your true love is written in the stars. And like all great love stories, the unconditional and eternal love it spells in their lives transcends all boundaries that lasts a lifetime.

Beginning September 14, GMA-7 will air a well-loved Pinoy adaptation of a hit Koreanovela. A beautiful and timeless tale of undying love between two people will be explored in the Philippine remake of Stairway to Heaven. This TV series became the Network's highest-rating primetime Koreanovela in 2005 and spawned a huge following among Filipinos.

Tasked to reprise the immensely popular characters in the Pinoy remake are Dingdong Dantes as the Pinoy "Cholo" and Rhian Ramos as the Pinay "Jodi."

Last Saturday, September 5, nagkaroon ng cinema premiere ang pilot week ng Stairway to Heaven sa SM Megamall Cinema 10 na talaga namang pinalakpakan at tinilian sila ng mga fans na unang nakapanood ng pilot week, without commercials. Isang carousel pa ang nilagay ng production sa mismong stage ng sinehan na siyang nagsilbing backdrop ng mga artista.

Ang Stairway to Heaven ay tungkol sa two childhood best friends, Cholo (played by 14-year-old Joshua Dionisio) and Jodi (played by 13-year-old Barbie Forteza). At their young age, alam na nilang mahal nila ang isa't isa at sa kabila ng mga pagpapahirap ni Maita (played by Jean Garcia) and her daughter Eunice (played by Joana Marie Tan) kay Jodi, tinulungan siya ni Tristan (played by Jake Vargas), son of Maita at brother of Eunice, nang ikulong siya para hindi na sila magkita ni Cholo na paalis na for America para mag-aral doon.

Nagkita sila bago tuluyang nakaalis si Cholo at isang necklace ang ibinigay nila sa isa't isa, tanda na hindi sila maghihiwalay, babalik si Cholo after five years at maghihintay naman si Jodi.

Nakabalik nga si Cholo after five years, handa na siyang pakasalan si Jodi, pero isang masamang balak ang ginawa ni Eunice, para hindi na makita ni Cholo si Jodi. Sinagasaan niya si Jodi, nagkaroon ito ng amnesia at wala nang natandaan tungkol kay Cholo. Itinago siya ni Tristan dahil mahal niya si Jodi at pinaniwala ni Eunice ang lahat na patay na nga si Jodi. Devastated si Cholo pero hindi niya nakalimutan ang kanyang one true love.

Lumipas pa muli ang five years, pero hindi siya nalimutan ni Cholo at minsan, may nakita siyang isang babae na kamukha ni Jodi kaya naniniwala siyang hindi pa patay ang kanyang minamahal. Hanggang kailan maililihim ni Tristan na buhay pa si Jodi? Paano babalik ang memory ni Jodi at muli ba silang magmamahalan ni Cholo hanggang kamatayan?

Ang iba pang members ng cast ay si Sandy Andolong as Ms. Zoila, the mom of Cholo at ang concern lamang niya ay welfare ni Cholo. Tanggap niya si Jodi na tanging babaing mamahalin ni Cholo dahil sabay ngang lumaki ang dalawa. Jestoni Alarcon is Arch. Jovan Reyes, dad of Jodi at hindi niya alam ang pagpapahirap na ginagawa ng napangasawa niyang si Maita at ng anak nitong si Eunice kay Jodi.

Si Soliman Cruz is the father of Eunice and Tristan, siya ang nakakaalam ng sekreto ng mga anak tungkol kay Jodi. Karen delos Reyes is Badet, best friend ni Jenna, the other name of Jodi nang may amnesia ito, Carlo Gonzales is Enrico, the best friend of Cholo and Paul Holme as Mr. John, ang British butler ni Cholo.

Under the direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal and Andoy Ranay, Stairway to Heaven offers more than just a tearjerker with a poignant tale and unforgettable characters from beginning to end. Ang location ng mga shooting nila ay ginanap sa Punta Fuego, Subic, Zambales, Enchanted Kingdom and Pampanga.

Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez sang the theme song, "Pag-ibig Ko'y Pansinin."

Stairway to Heaven will air on GMA-7 starting Monday, September 14, right after Darna of Marian Rivera.
