| Stars in politicsAuthor: Remy Umerez WITH 20l0 approaching, movie stars seeking public office are already surfacing. We hear Cesar Montano is being convinced to run as governor of Bohol . Rico J. Puno is contemplating to run as congressman. The advice of many to both is this: it is costly to run . Don't depend on promises. Be prepared to dole out your own money. Popularity is not a gauge for winning. GENRE IN COMMON WHAT do Regal films and the Malaysian film industry love to produce? Answer: Horror movies. In fact, Malaysia is centered on this genre since sexy movies is a big no-no for them. If you have seen some of their horror movies, you would agree that they are Pinoy na Pinoy. The fact that Filipinos love a good scare prompted Randy Padron of World Asia Film Exchange and his Malaysian partners to distribute Long Khong (Art of the Devil 3) and be shown in theaters all over the country starting March 25. Long Khong broke box-office in Malaysia and other Asian countries like Thailand and Indonesia . It is about voodoo and black magic and the power of the three-eyed god. Throughout the movie reverberates the message delivered by a Buddhist monk that "once you practice black magic, you become the prisoner of its evil cycle, experiencing bad karmas after your evil deeds. " Film distributor Randy Padron also revealed their immediate plans of producing movies that will star Robin Padilla who is a Muslim like him. They are now scouting for a good story and director as they intend to enter the project for the December 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. Padron wishes to unite Muslims and Christians through his projects. Marketing director Lea Fernando also hinted that they are soon producing a movie even before the Robin starrer begins. "We don't want to reveal it yet at baka mausog. Suportahan nyo na lamang muna ang aming Long Khong para tumabo ng malaki sa takliya. " Publicist Emy Abuan adds that it is no hype when she says, "Some scenes are so terrifying we decided to sanitize or shorten them ourselves bago ipa-review sa MTRCB. " TOSCA LIKE DAD WHAT a pleasant surprise to see Makati councilor Tosca Puno -Reyes grace the Philippine premiere of Unsurrendered held recently at the Ayala Museum. She is looking very slim and sexy. Indeed marriage becomes her. She was accompanied by her amiable husband Mike who supports her in all her projects and advocacies. Although her dad, Rico J. Puno, is no longer a public servant, Tosca credits him for all the advice and help she can get on how to be an effective councilor and be of real help to her constituents in Makati. "The elderly has a soft spot sa puso ni Dad. Huwag na huwag ko raw kakalimutan ang kapakanan ng mga senior citizen. Ganito rin ang feeling niya sa mga war veterans. The younger generation need to realize the sacrifices and heroisms they did during the war. Galak na galak nga siya at pumasa na ang equity bill sa America . " Unsurrendered is a video documentary featuring the lives and stories of Filipino guerillas and Bolomen of World War II. It is produced by Peter Parsons and Lucky Guillermo and sponsored by Veterans Bank of the Philippines. Veterans agreed to support the project, given its close affiliation to the Filipino WWII heroes. It is a private commercial bank, owned by the 300,000 Filipino World War II veterans and their heirs. A SCENE in All About Eve showed Mark Anthony Fernandez taking a dip in a pool which made someone remarked, "Bakit hindi si Alfred Vargas ang pinaghubad since he is more of a hunk like Dingdong Dantes? Marami pa rin ang nagnanasang matikman siya. At wala siyang asawa at mga anak". What can direk Gil Tejada can say about this? All About Eve is an all-star studded cast. We welcome the presence of Eric Quizon, one of our gifted actors. Keempee de Leon is also in the cast playing a playboy. A case of being miscast? The new teleserye has Sunshine Dizon versus Iza Calzado where for the first time, the character of Iza fights back. Playing villainous mothers are Jean Garcia and Eula Valdez who were last seen clawing at each other four years ago. To some extent, All About Eve is about women empowerment and their search for happiness. Source: People's Journal |
