| Story like no otherAuthor: Remy Umerez NO other living novelist can equal or surpass the works and achievements of Carlo J. Caparas. From the comics pages, his stories penetrated the big screen which paved the way for him to become a director. His movies just like his novels, have been certified blockbusters. He was the hit director of the so-called massacre movies. As you can see, only Carlo can weave a story like no other. He has mastered the art of storytelling. The popularity of Carlo's creations continue to captivate millions today. GMA 7 for one, has bought some of Carlo's best works for TV adaptation, a negotiation which only his wife (and manager) Donna Villa successfully negotiate for an undisclosed amount. Both his name and story title spells a fortune. You cannot sell one without the other. Hence, in all the ads are boldly spelled the name of Carlo J. followed by the title of the novel as in the current remake for television of "Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang. " Originally created for comics in 1974, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang was later adapted as a movie in l981 starring Miss Body Beautiful Vivian Velez. The lead characters of Homer and Proserfina played by Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, today's phenomenal loveteam on television, GMA's newest primetime series for 2009 is under the helm of Bb. Joyce Bernal with Topel Lee as assisting unit director. Ms. Bernal is the same director behind the successful teleseryes, Marimar and Dyesebel which also starred Dingdong and Marian. The new action-suspense-drama series tells the story of the intertwined love and lives of Homer and Proserfina and how fate leads them to each other's world. Homer is a young, nerdy but handsome and wealthy businessman who lives a systematic, monotonous and boring life. He likes to play the saxophone because that is the only instrument his mother permits him to use. He is an obedient son who embraces whatever his mother commands even if it is against his will. But his life makes a sudden turn when he wakes up one morning to find a mysterious woman sleeping beside him"Proserfina. She is a stunning beauty, streetsmart, feisty and down-to-earth. Her unconventional and free-spirited ways immediately captures Homer. And just when Homer is willing to share his life with her, the mysterious woman suddenly disappears. Homer tries to find her. What is the mystery behind this beautiful woman? Is she worth-searching and fighting for? RICHARD, KC TURN TO EACH OTHER FOR COMFORT IN terms of hype and publicity, the first movie of Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion (For the First Time) was awesome. It is a hit alright but not as gigantic as Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz's "A Very Special Love. " Richard and KC are back in each other's arms in "When I Met U," a Valentine offering. Sadly, the project started on the wrong footing. The original director was Jose Javier Reyes who backed out because he didn't find the storyline to his liking. Several revisions were made but none passed the taste of Joey. Another J director took over: Joel Lamangan. When I Met U aspires to be one of those sweeping romances this Valentine season. Without any doubt, the chemistry of Richard and KC (who are now more relaxed with each other specially in handling kissing scenes) is super strong. Story-wise, what the first J (Joyce Bernal) director failed to deliver, hopefully, Joel Lamangan would be able to accomplish. What is the story all about in the first place? Well, the unlikely romance began when promodizer Jenny (KC) hitches a ride with Benjie, a pilot (Richard) to attend a wedding in Palawan. While onboard the plane , both openly show their dislike for each other but when the aircraft crashes in an unknown island, they turn to each other for comfort and eventually absolve their differences. RAVING ABOUT 'Tayong Dalawa' EVERYONE we talked to is raving about "Tayong Dalawa. " Casting Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu and Jake Cuenca in a teleserye is simply too good to be true. There is no trace of overacting when they interpret their respective roles. The support they get from veteran stars like Helen Gamboa, Cherie Pie Picache, Gina Pareno and Ricky Davao makes this ABS CBN primetime teleserye worth watching for. And the good news is. .. Tayong Dalawa is rating well. Source: People's Journal |
