* * * BY THE WAY... • Diether Ocampo, who has just flown in from California, says he was always being asked about the Piolo-Sam rumor everywhere he went. 'I feel sad for them,' was all Diet could muster. Guess what? ABS-CBN could step in and neutralize all this talk by hatching a new show starring the two gentlemen. How about a rehash of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or The Sting? • Who's the lady in the title role of the new show, Michelle Simone Entertains, premiering on Saturday, Oct. 27, on QTV-11 from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. Meet Michelle and be entertained by her talent in creating elaborate theme parties, crafts, decorating rooms and whipping up delicious recipes. GMA production executive Lilibeth Rasonable says the network feels the time has come to put in some suspense in tele-seryes considering that through the years, they have succeeded in building up a strong audience base. The network begins this new quest by way of La Vendetta, a nightly serial which puts together elements of drama, suspense-thriller, and even horror. The trailer screened before members of media during a showcase recently had just the right dosage of screams and terror. La Vendetta, says director Gil Tejada, is all about unforgiving love, even in death. Jean Garcia, Sunshine Dizon and Jennylyn Mercado play the three female leads as the 'La Vendetta' sisters. You will not want to belong to such a family where hatred is the rule more than the exception. Jean and Sunshine, by now, are veterans of hate-roles. Is there anything new they're offering this time? Jean said she changes attacks with each character, but how different can one Bella Flores role be from another? She said she also works on a new look each time. The pleasant surprise in the cast of La Vendetta is the gifted actress Snooky Serna, looking loveliest that evening despite her ill pronouncements about her life recently. It's a good thing GMA has taken her back at a time when she needs work the most. Down and lacking in comfort, Snooky needs all the help she can get, not words of derision or mockery from industry people too insensitive for what others are going through. Thank you, GMA, for saving a good soul like Snooky, whose only sin, and reason for downfall, is her supreme love for her family. Source: Tempo |
