Tema-X will rock your vote

IT WAS a surprise concert treat at the Rizal Park last September 17, a post-Kadayawan celebration, sponsored by Rock and Vote campaign.

A huge crowd gathered to enjoy the music of local band Tema-X, along with celebrities from Manila, Luke Mijares, Hale and 6 Cycle Mind.

Rock and Vote 2010 is a series of concerts that kicked off in Quezon City last May. The RV bus then traveled to Naga, Cebu Cagayan de Oro with Davao City as the fifth leg of the concert series.

The campaign is spearheaded by Senator Kiko Pangilinan to encourage the youth to register and vote in the coming 2010 elections.

According to Julie Laconico, event organizer, Rock and Vote 2010 could change the political landscape if the youth participates in the coming elections.

She said they estimate five to nine million qualified youth voters who have not regisitred yet. The concert will continue until October 31 to remind youth of their right to sufferage.

Tema-X, the newest and hottest band in Davao City, is composed of young men and women who want to introduce the latest music genre, the urban mix.

Its members worked with other bands before but bonded together to showcase their specialty in music. They play a unique kind of music that Dabawenyos would sure to love.

The band is composed of Jay-ar "The Idol" Luceara in the vocals, Karlo Ismael "Lover Boy" Alegado also in the vocals, Joey "Assassin" Pagangpang as bassist, Jorsan "Magic Keys" Camahalan in the keyboards, Bernabe "Doctor" Lambiquet Jr. in drums, Federico Lorenzo "Shredder" Pasagui III as lead guitarist and its women members Febie a.k.a Poison Ivy and Juliet a.k.a Sweet Girl.

The group is presently recording their first album which contains 14 tracks which they hope will gain be noticed not only here, but in foreign shores as well.

"Everybody is thinking outside the box, not inside the box," according to the Tema-X's manager, who only wishes to be called as Uncle Tema-X. The group's manager said he would work hard to make the group popular even abroad.

Urban mix is a unique genre of music that is a combination of rock and roll, rap, R&B, rock, hip-hop and other types of upbeat music.

The lyrics of their songs are also unique, a combination of English, Tagalog and Bisaya, which aims to reach all types of audience.

The group also has a website, www.temaxrocks.com for those who are interested to know more about them. The website proves that they are serious in making a name across the globe.
