MARS Ravelo’s "Darna" flies again this Monday on GMA.

The original Pinay superhero’s latest incarnation will be played by Marian Rivera, who returns to kid-friendly fare in a bid to recapture the viewers who loved her as the ingénue Marimar and the mermaid Dyesebel.

Marian, who is described by GMA VP for Entertainment Wilma Galvante as the Darna who is always giggling, will also be playing Darna’s alter-ego Narda, a crippled young woman who will be torn between her love and destiny.

Marian is also described by the original "Valentina," Celia Rodriguez, as "the sexiest Darna."

"I’ve worked in four Darna (with Vilma Santos in "Lipad, Darna, Lipad" in 1973, with Dolphy in "Darna Kuno" in 1979 and with Angel Locsin in GMA’s "Darna" in 2005) and I tell you, Marian is the cutest and the sexiest Darna. She is grossly misunderstood but she is carninosa and mabait na bata."

Aside from Celia Rodriguez who will play Perfecta, Narda’s surrogate mother, Eddie Garcia and Caridad Sanchez are again part of GMA’s retelling of "Darna." Garcia is the parish priest Padre Mateo and Sanchez is Perfecta’s assistant.

Robert "Buboy" Villar is Carding, the kid who knows the secret of Narda and Darna. Mark Anthony Fernandez is Eduardo, Narda’s childhood sweetheart.

Darna’s villains are Paolo Contis as Kobra, Iwa Moto as Valentina, Ehra Madrigal as Babaeng Lawin, Francine Prieto as Babaeng Tuod, nadina Samonte as Babaeng Impakta, Maggie Wilson as Babaeng Linta and Ricky Davao as Dr. Morgan.

Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez direct the new series.
