The truth about the ‘Marian Rivera Scandal’

The truth about the ‘Marian Rivera Scandal’

Author: Mario E. Bautista
Column: Dream Factory

WE got a video called "Marian Rivera Scandal" and it shows the star of "Dyesebel" having an argument with a man. The video ends saying "Ganyan kapalengkera ang idolninyo." We ask Marian about on the set of "Dyesebel" and she told us it happened while they were taping the now No. 1 TV serial in Subic. "Bawal sa amin mag-video sa set at nang pababa ako ng bahay where we were taping I saw a man na nagvi-video," she says. "I told him, ‘Uy, si Kuya, nagvi-video.’ Nakangiti pa ko’t sa tonong pabiro. Sinagot ako ng pabalang: ‘Bakit? Ikaw bang vini-video koSiempre, nabigla ako, umalma ko. Ang feeling ko kasi, binabastos ako. Sabi ko, taga saan ba siya? Member ba siya ng staff? Sabi sa’kin, ‘Nakaupo ako rito. Ano bang pakialam mo?’ Di nagkasagutan na kami. Kahit payatot ako, hindi ko siya uurungan. Lalaban talaga ako dahil Cavitena yata ako. First time akong naka-enkwentro ng ganun sa set, e nagbibiro pa nga ako. Pero the next day, bumalik siya sa set, nahimasmasan yata, so nagkaliwanagan kami. Nagkaayos na. Ewan ko ngayon kung bakit lumaki na. May nagvi-video pala sa amin sa simula ng pag-uusap namin at habang nagsasagutan kami, at yun, kinalat na nga at nilagay para raw sa YouTube as ‘Marian Rivera Scandal.’

"Hindi ko pa napapanood pero nagdagdagan daw ng footage na may kamay na sumasampal doon sa lalaki, pero hindi ipinapakitang ako nga. Pero dahil akong kausap niya, siempre, you’d presume ako ‘yun. Sabi nila, na-setup daw ako. I don’t know if that’s true, pero obvious na I was really provoked para mag-react ng ganun. Sa’kin naman, pinagtanggol ko lang ang sarili ko dahil naapi na ako. Dapat nga siguro, masanay na ako sa ganitong mga intriga kasi ito naman ang trabahong pinili ko. Pero sa’kin, huwag mo kong babastusin dahil hahamunin kita talaga ng suntukan."

So what does she intend to do about it?

"Aba, ‘di bahala sila. Panoorin na nila ng panoorin. Basta ako, kumasa lang ako dahil I have to defend myself at ‘di ako papayag na magpabastos na lang basta."

It’s timely that in this week’s "Dyesebel," she will see the bad treatment that people give to a mermaid that they make fun of in a "perya" and she gets scared. "Ganun din naman ang gawain ng ibang tao sa mga artista, they heckle us," says Marian. "The best thing is to just ignore these hecklers."

Viva Films is launching Precious Adona as the "Playmate ng Bayan" in "Torotot," to be shown in June.

Precious, who already finished business management, signed a five-year contract with Viva.

"I really want to be a TV host," she says. "But since acting is what they offered me, I thought I might as well grab it."

She has a conservative upbringing so going sexy in "Torotot" will be a big surprise to her friends. "My director, Maryo de los Reyes, says I should just trust him dahil hindi naman ako mabababoy and he’s right. I’ve seen the rushes and I’m proud of our work. I play the wife of Yul Servo who gets bored with our marriage so pumatol ako kay Anton Bernardo, a butcher. I have love scenes with both of them."

Is it true Baron Geisler, who plays her friend Maui Taylor’s husband, tried to make a pass at her on the set?

"No. Meron lang siyang gustong i-adlib in one scene but Direk Maryo shouted ‘Cut’ before he could do it."

Is it something like what Baron is accused of doing to Patricia, daughter of William Martinez? "No. I don’t think gagawin niya sa akin ‘yun. Most of his scenes are with Maui."

Precious admits she joined showbiz as she’s their family’s breadwinner.

"My mom used to own an agency that sends talents to Japan, pero bawal na yun kaya nawalan siya ng kita. My older brother naman, na-rehab due to drug addiction. The monthly payment to his private rehab clinic was something like P25,000 at umabot ng three years. Wala na nga kaming pambayad so we left our car with them. But at least, okay na siya ngayon. Ayoko namang magtrabaho pa uli ang mommy ko, so heto, nagpa-sexy na ako."

She’s also on the cover of the FHM May issue where her pictorial is truly very daring, displaying her 36-26-35 figure to advantage.

After "Torotot," she’ll do another sexy movie, "Room 213" with Allen Dizon and Gwen Garci.

Disney’s "High School Musical" starring Zac Effron as Troy Bolton and Vanessa Ann Hudgens as Gabriella Montez was a worldwide hit it even spawned live stage presentations, so it’s not surprising that Disney came up with a sequel starring the same cast. Now, catch "High School Musical 2" as it premiere on local TV on Studio 23 this Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25, 7:30 p.m.

Troy is the team captain and star player who makes the East High basketball team win, while brainy Gabriella is the math whiz who head the school’s successful academic team. No one would ever peg them as theater types thus, when word gets out that this popular pair has secretly chosen to reach for the stars and try their luck on the stage, the students are about to learn an important lesson in teamwork while gearing up for a musical performance that will have their audience dancing in the aisles. Watch fun, love, excitement, and the music continue on "High School Musical 2" as the whole gang goes through a summer experience they will never forget, especially Troy who has to choose between his future (through a scholarship) and his one true love.

Gabby Con-cepcion says he wants to be at peace with everyone. This is why, he said, he approached Jobert Sucaldito when they saw each other by chance at Hotel Rembrandt. "I told him na mag-uusap kami nang mas mahaba para maayos ang lahat ng problema between us," he said at his launching as endorser of Lucida DS Glutathione 500 mg. capsules with alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C.

It’ll be recalled that Jobert sued Gabby and his manager, Mommy Rose Flaminiano, for breach of contract as they earlier agreed with him to plug Met Tathione. "I came home to work, not to fight with anyone."

Gabby said he didn’t have any second thoughts endorsing Lucida DS as he really takes antioxidants like this. "I became even more conscious of my health when I came home and I saw my dad who is now sick. I became more careful with the food I eat. I’m glad Lucida DS is the first product I’m endorsing upon my comeback as I believe in it as a good detoxifier, immune booster and also skin whitener. Maraming health benefits ito."

Gabby shot a TV commercial for Lucida and 100 of his Lucida billboards will be seen all over the country. And why did Lucida choose Gabby?

"When he returned from the States, the response was overwhelming," says Glutathione exec Maribel Galindez. "That means very strongpa rin ang appeal niya sa masa. Fan ako ni Gabby ever since and his looks remain the same so he’s perfect as our endorser."

Gabby and his manager also visited Rudy Fernandez in the hospital. He played villain to Daboy in an action flick before he left and they’re good friends. It was Daboy and Lorna T. who introduced him to Mommy Rose, their wedding godmother who took them to the US where they met Gabby by chance. "Kundi dahil sa kanila, hindi ko makikilala ang manager ko ngayon," adds Gabby.

We had a real good time at the Metro Bar concert of Rubirubi and Boyz.com. Polo Ravales, Frank Garcia, Joseph Bitangcol, Alwyn Uytingco and Gabb Drilon did highly energized song and dance numbers, but it’s singer-comedienne Rubirubi who brought the house down not only with her hilarious antics but even more so with her great singing.

Rubirubi honed her singing voice as a host in 22nd St., a sing-along bar owned by Mon Confiado along Marcos Highway and in Las Piñas. She can do ballads, rock and dance tunes with equal ease. She was a standout from her "One Night Only" opening number and her rock medley combining English and Tagalog rock tunes, to her rendition of Sitti’s bossa number "Para Sa Akin," and her medley of various songs that all have the word "Mister" in it, like "Mr. DJ," "Mr. Disco," "Mr Dream Boy" and "Mr. Cupido." She deserves to be given her own solo album soon.

Her most riotous act was the "Bukol Rating" she did with the Boyz.com. She really groped the crotches of each of the boys, starting with Gabb who got a rating of 8 from her for being "lean and mean." Gabb looked so embarrassed and she quipped: "Kung nahihiya ka, ‘di hawakan mo rin ‘yung sa’kin." Next was Joseph, who got a rating of 8.5 for being "cute and smooth." Frank was the bravest among the boys and he let her touch him freely. Rubirubi gave him a rating of 9 for being "round and proud." Alwyn was next and she said he’s really her crush among them all. "Ikaw ang gusto kong alagaan," she told him. "Gusto mo kong maging sugar mommy?" Alwyn got a 9.5 rating but Rubirubi told him to "go and grow." Last was Polo, who has the hunkiest physique. She gave him a perfect 10 rating for being "rough and tough."

Among the guest stars, Jan Nieto impressed us with his duet with Rubirubi, but Rufa Mae Quinto failed to make the crowd laugh in her interview portion with the boys. But she was able to recover and did quite well with her live rendition of "Ocean Deep."
