Toni’s fans not happy with idol’s role in new movie

Toni Gonzaga fans are protesting over their idol’s character in a new movie with Sarah Geronimo for Star Cinema. They got wind that Toni will play second lead and that doesn’t sit well with them.

Sarah, meanwhile, is being paired with Rayver Cruz who did a good job in You Changed My Life.

“Personally, it’s not a big deal for me if I’m playing support to Sarah. I’m happy to work with anyone. We’re together in Asap and I’m happy for her. She deserves all the success and blessings that come her way,” Toni says.

This early, some quarters anticipate some billing problem between them.

“Actually, since I entered the ‘biz, I’m not very particular with billing. What’s important for me is I have work. I love my job so much. I hope this will put an end to the brewing issue between me and Sarah. It’s really immaterial,” the singer-actress says with finality.

Many are wondering why is she not that visible these days when she’s only seen in Asap and Entertainment Live.

“Well my fans need not worry because I’ll have a meeting with ABS-CBN management. Once I renew my contract, I will announce my next projects. Ever since, I didn’t complain about the number of shows I have. What matters to me now is that I’m assured of projects so let’s just wait, okay,” states Toni.

Daddy again

At the recent Goma Cup reunion, Paolo Paraiso got the news that Mylene Dizon gave birth to a bouncing baby boy in the US. This is their second and named him Lucas Miguel. The eldest is Tomas.

“It’s really happy news!” Paolo beamed. “The original plan was for me to go there this coming May. But the doctor there advised that Mylene would deliver earlier. So it was decided that I’d go there April 27 but it turned out late since Mylene gave birth already.”

Many are curious why he didn’t join Mylene when she left so that he would be there on that special day.

“I have commitments to fulfill here in the Philippines. It wouldn’t be that easy to leave your work hanging. In fact, I had to ask permission from my bosses if they could allow me to go on with this trip since it concerned Mylene’s delivery. It’s good they understood.”

Now that they already have a second child, the public is interested to know if he and Mylene will soon be back in each other’s arms.

“Mylene and I haven’t talked about it yet. It’s hard since she’s still fresh from her delivery. Our main focus as of now is Lucas. But who knows, in the coming days, we’ll be able to touch on that issue,” Paolo stated.

Nursing a broken heart, still

Kristine Hermosa admits that after her marriage to Diether Ocampo was nullified, she felt relieved. At least, they can now focus on their respective lives. But she also felt sad.

“Honestly, I had mixed emotions when the decision of the Court of Appeals was read. Of course, I’m glad that we can now go on with our [own] separate lives but it can’t be denied how much I fought for our relationship then. We tried to work things out, only it didn’t. Whatever we shared before was no joke. We were very much in love with each other.

“It’s just sad that things didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to be. For me, it was a learning experience from which I learned valuable insights. Perhaps, God wants the two of us to realize that there are things we need to focus our attention to and fix first,” explains the lovely lass.

In recent interviews, Diet avers that he is already fulfilled with his present girlfriend Rema Ostwani.

“Yes, and I can see the happiness written all over his face. What can I say but I’m happy for him!”

What can she say about Diether’s alleged plan to marry his current flame?

“Actually, I haven’t spoken to him regarding the matter but if ever it’s true, I feel he should think about it a hundred times first. It’s one serious step. It’s not a game where you can quit once you don’t like it anymore. He ought to be very sure of his decision.

“My foremost concern is his happiness. I hope that whoever he chooses to exchange marital vows with is the one he truly loves, someone who can take care of him and make him happy for the rest of his life,” Kristine said.

Back to fantasy land

Marian Rivera will be the new Darna on television! This was confirmed by GMA-7 through Wilma Galvante, SVP for Entertainment. She made the official announcement in the presence of GMA Films top honcho Annette Gozon-Abrogar, fellow execs Lilybeth Rasonable and Marivin Arayata and the children of the late Darna creator Mars Ravelo.

Actually, this is a solo vehicle for Marian unlike in the original plan in which Darna is supposed to share the screen with Captain Barbell.

As Darna, Marian is aware of the role’s physical and emotional requirements.

“I was told I have to undergo a lot of physical training. I have to learn various fight routines and stay fit and in top shape because the costume is sexy. Apart from this, I also have to be prepared emotionally because Darna’s alter ego Narda is a mortal and I have to show her human side. I know this is a big challenge for me but I’m thrilled to the hilt.”

Interestingly, her perennial screen partner Dingdong Dantes will not be her love interest in her new telefantasya. The only confirmed co-star as of this writing is child wonder Robert “Buboy” Villar who will play Ding, Darna’s sidekick of a brother.

“It’s just fine with me if I have a new leading man in Darna. I’m open to work with any actor. I know that it’s for the benefit of my career and Dong’s too. After Marimar, Dyesebel and Tadyang, I feel that we also need to be paired with other stars to grow. I’ll surely miss Dingdong but he can be a guest in Darna if ever, right?”

It’s inevitable that she’ll be compared to those actresses who previously played Darna on screen, especially Angel Locsin who is considered one of her rivals when it comes to popularity.

“To be honest, I already have that in mind. But I don’t want to be affected. For me, this is just work and it is part of the job. As I’ve stated earlier, I’ll just do my best in order to come up with an accurate portrayal of Darna,” Marian seriously ends.
