IT’S always a joy talking to young and promising showbiz talents, like Melissa Ricks, Empress Schuck and Lauren Young, who are all articulate and good conversationalists.

The trio, aged 19, 16 and 15, respectively, are playing the top roles in "Underage," a new chapter of "Your Song Presents" which is a remake of the 1980’s movie.

A production of Regal Entertainment, "Underage" was a campy movie released in 1980 and directed by the late Joey Gosiengfiao. It served as the launching pad of Dina Bonnevie, Snooky Serna and Maricel Soriano as young actresses.

All three later married fellow actors. The marriages, sadly, ended in separation.

Dina, who was 17 when she did "Underage," was made to look –quite successfully – like a 15-year-old girl. At 19, she married Vic Sotto and they had two kids.

When Dina’s marriage to Vic was annulled, she took another stab at marriage. She tied the knot with non-showbiz Dick Penson.

That marriage didn’t last long, too.

Dina is now happily single but longs to get married again. Meanwhile, her newest role is that of grandma to her first apo, courtesy of daughter Danica and son-in-law, Mark Pingris.

It was a whirlwind romance for Snooky and fellow actor Ricardo Cepeda. They got married in a hotel room and their union produced two beautiful daughters, now both teenagers.

They separated and had their marriage annulled three years ago.

Snooky married again and this time, her choice for a husband was a member of a band.

Like her first marriage, however, this second one didn’t prosper.

Right now, according to Snooky, she is taking another crack at romance. Like her, the fellow has kids, with whom she has a good relationship.

Her new love likewise loves her children.

Maricel Soriano was married to Edu Manzano, but their marriage, which lasted for nearly three years, was not blessed with a child.

However, Maricel has a biological son, Tien. She has another son, Marron, whom she refuses to consider as adopted, as she claims that the only difference between him and Tien is that she didn’t have to undergo labor to "give birth" to Marron.

Otherwise, Marron is her own. Period.

"Sana naman, kami ho when the time comes and we fall in love and get married, it will be forever, like that of our respective parents," said Melissa.

Melissa and Lauren both have American fathers who are married to their Pinay mothers.

Both were born in the US. They were in grade school when their parents decided to settle in the Philippines.

The marriages of their parents are intact.

Empress’ parents, on the other hand, are Filipinos.

Of the three, it is only Lauren who revealed that she has fallen in love. She was 13 then. The boy was a Filipino and their romance lasted for seven months.

At 19, Melissa has yet to experience having a boyfriend.

"Lalo naman ako," Empress cut in. "Ayoko yata munang ma-in love."

Playing their leading men in "Underage, The Series" are Matt Evans, Rafael Rosell and AJ Perez.

Also in the cast are Valeen Montenegro, William Lorenzo, Sylvia Sanchez and Mickey Ferriols.

Directed by Manny Palo, the story of "Underage, The Series," revolves around three sisters who are raised in the province but face an entirely new world, when their mom decides to venture into the city. But before they start their new life, their mom dies.

"Your Song Presents: Underage" airs Sundays on ABS-CBN.
