| | Valeen Montenegro still a Kapamilya despite projects in another TV station Author: Bernie Franco Star Magic talent Valeen Montenegro is currently more visible in another station, TV5, via the gag show Loko Moko, where she stars with fellow ABS-CBN talents, such as Empoy, Alex Gonzaga and Rudolph Stamatelaky among others. Aside from guest appearances on ABS-CBN's variety shows, Valeen has yet to have a regular show in her home network. But she stresses that she sees nothing wrong being identified with another TV station because Star Magic actually encourages her and its other talents to 'widen their horizons.' "I don't feel the competition between TV5 and ABS-CBN," said Valeen. "(Star Magic) pa nga ang nagsabi sa akin to audition for TV5, which is better (because) at least hindi sila nagko-close ng talent nila. 'Yung objective talaga nila is to give out their talents and showcase their talents, which is very good." Valeen's notable project with the Kapamilya network was 2007's teleserye Ysabella with Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. Her most recent work was Your Song Presents: Underage, where she played a kontrabida. With her sharp features, Valeen was able to pull off the kontrabida role and said that she does not mind if she gets similar offers in the future. ""I really enjoy it," she revealed. "And I have no problem with that. As long as effective pa ako, as long as marami pa 'yung nagagalit sa akin (sa role) okay pa 'yon. Right after 'yung Underage, nag-mall show kami, takot ako baka magalit sa akin 'yung mga tao. Pero hindi. They enjoyed it," she beamed. The 19-year-old actress is now a second year college student at De La Salle University-College of St. Benilde, where she is taking up Fashion Design. She is also committed to a non-showbiz guy and is still really good friends with former flame Victor Basa. "It was never us pero we liked each other," Valeen said. "Naging busy siya with work tapos ako naman nag-focus sa school so nagkakasabay-sabay lahat so we decided na nga na stop," she shared.
