Valerie Concepcion in the running for 'Betty La Fea'

Sweet and sexy host-actress Valerie Concepcion was caught by surprise by reports that she is in the running to play the lead role in ABS-CBN's upcoming television series "Betty La Fea."

"Hindi ko alam, hindi ko alam (I don't know. I don't know)," Concepcion told entertainment press Thursday night. "Actually parang nabanggit sa akin na isa ako sa pinagpipilian pero hindi ko alam. Pero siyempre sana, sana ay matuloy (I think it was mentioned that I was being considered but I don't know. I hope it pushes through.)"

Concepcion said she is hoping to get the project since she is excited to do a series for Kapamilya network.

Concepion said she is willing to play the role of Betty La Fea, a not-so-pretty but intelligent woman who fell in love with her boss and decided to have a makeover. "Oo naman. Actually isa iyon sa gusto kong i-try iyong pangit tapos papagandahin ka," she said during the press launch of her first solo endorsement for weight loss capsule "Slenda."

According to Concepcion, the mere fact that she is considered for the role is flattering enough.

"I'm honored and I'm flattered talaga... sabi ko nga kung hindi man ako mapili at least alam ko na nakasama ako sa pinagpipilian, iyon pa lang big honor na for me," she said.

She added that other actresses being considered for the role are "Lobo" star Angel Locsin and "Maging Sino Ka Man" mainstays Bea Alonzo and Anne Curtis. Earlier reports said singer Regine Velasquez was also considered for the series.

Concepcion is currently co-hosting daily noontime show "Wowowee" with Willie Revillame. She will also do a movie with comedian Vhong Navarro.
