Vilma Santos says son Luis Manzano is a better actor than dad Edu Manzano

Vilma Santos and Luis Manzano both agreed that their first movie together, Star Cinema's In My Life, was an amazing experience. Luis described it as surreal because he never thought that his first project with his mom would be a movie. At the press conference of In My Life, the press people teased the Star for All Seasons to name who is the better actor between Luis and his dad Edu Manzano. But dito kasi, first time with my son meron siyang moment dito na isang eksena na nadala ako bilang nanay.

Ate Vi was also very proud of Luis's very convincing performance. " Gusto kong malaman n'yo na kung paano idineliver [ni Lucky] ang kanyang character, or at the same time ang acting na kanyang ibinigay, wala po akong kinalaman diyan," she explained. " Hindi po ako naging stage mother dito."

The veteran actress recalled that there was only one piece of advice she gave Luis when they shot their first scene together. Being mostly identified as a host, Ate Vi reminded Luis to prove himself as an actor. Everything else, she left to their director Olivia Lamasan.

Aside from having the chance to finally work with Luis, Ate Vi shared that the lessons she learned while doing the movie also make it memorable. Portraying a mother who longs for her children's attention, Ate Vi said that she realized that being a parent does not mean that you always know what is best for your children. "Sometimes hindi tayo aware at akala natin we're doing our best para ibigay sa ating mga anak pero in the end, hindi pala ganun ang gusto nila at meron tayong pagkukulang," she explained.

She also mentioned one particular scene when she had to deliver lines saying that having more children does not assure that you won't feel lonely when you get older. " Kasi 'di ba may mga nanay na pakiramdam nila they're doing their best [for their kids] pero pagkaharap mo na ang mga anak mo lahat sila busy. The lines made her realize that she should have shown more appreciation for her own mother.
