| When Martin should keep his mouth shutAuthor: Joey Aquino MAN to man, one on one, whatever one may call it. That should be the way Martin related his message to Pop's ex- lover Jomari Yllana; if the former had any intention of really commenting or suggesting to them. We all know that Martin is Pops Fernandez's ex husband; although it shouldn't be the reason for him to make any comment because it's really not his business anymore. But if he has something to say, it should be words of encouragement for the two and not negative statements to the already damaged relationship. Jomari has reasons to react vehemently to Martin's statement. "Huwag siyang magmalinis," says Jom of Martin. "Dapat hindi na siya nagpakita sa TV, out na siya sa usapan," says of my of associates. The fact is even Martin himself wasn't able to save his marriage with Pops. What can he suggest if he himself wasn't able to save his own? Just asking... UNLUCKY PAIRING? WHAT'S the secret ingredient in forming a formidable love team? The current love team of Maja Salvador and Rayver Cruz is reportedly not in a good shape to become successful. Forming a love team is challenging. The chemistry of two different people is an ingredient that makes fans go "kilig" and hence, makes them marketable. These days, we rarely see an effective pair in the industry besides of course the tandems of Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera and John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. We recall the days of Guy and Pip, the tandem of Sharon-Gabby. These are pairings that brought each of these actors' careers to the highest. Maja Salvador was paired to Rayver Cruz in "May Bukas Pa. " No doubt about it:, Maja's a leading lady material. She could adjust to any role that is offered her. But both Rayver and Maja have beautiful faces. In analyzing the tandem, it would really be not effective. Will they still force the love team? Just asking... Meanwhile, catch the "May Bukas Pa" star at Ever Gotesco Mall Commonwealth on March 27 as she will grace the mall promoting her sanitary napkin endorsement Sisters. The show is entitled "Tribute to Young Achievers. " With her are Mr Pogi winner, Edgar Allan Guzman, and PJ Valerio, co-host of Kuya Germs' "Walang Tulugan. " Through the support of the president of Mega Soft Corp. Ms. Aileen Go, Maja is literally "Moving Up" to become one of the stars of this generation. A NO-NO ON TV WE were able to watch SOP in GMA 7 and we saw a no-no as far as singing on TV is concerned. One of the members of the group You've Got Male, Jan Nieto was sporting eyeglasses while singing. Worse, his eyeglasses reflected the lights in the studio. It's really a no-no. Can't afford to buy contact lenses? "Mukhang nagpapa-cute lang ito hindi naman bagay," says one of my staff. Speaking of SOP, it's nice to see PJ Valerio making a comeback in the show. He was again paired with young singer Julie Ann San Jose. But we were surprised to see her mature looking in their number. It's obvious that her eyebrows were shaved; hence she looked older. But one fan comments," if they want to work with each other, things would go smoothly no matter what comment they get from detractors. " Good to see PJ back, will he be given more chances? Just asking... OF BEAUTY QUEENS AND CONTROVERSIES WE remember Stella Marquez-Araneta being the representative of Columbia in the Ms. Universe tilt in 1959. Unfortunately though, she just landed as one of the semi-finalists in the competition. But she never quit and competed in the very first Ms. International pageant held in California. She won and became the very first Ms. International and not to mention the first Latina to win. Since then she had been the organizer of Binibining Pilipinas. The latest talk concerns one of her former winners (batch 1982), Maria Isabel Lopez. It was rumored that the former actress was not invited to the recent BP coronation night last March 7. She admitted that she got her set of tickets from former beauty queens themselves, Pilar Pilapil and Evelyn Camus. "Nagpapasalamat ako sa kapwa ko mga beauty queens na nagtanggol at naki-symphatize sa akin. " Was being controversial one of the reasons why she wasn't invited to grace the event? We remember her admittance some years back that she had relationships with politicians and lesbians. Even the last winner of Ms. International, Precious Lara Quigaman was not present at the recent event. She was one of those who organized Turismo Pilipinas beauty pageant. Does Ms. Stella have problems with Maria Isabel and Precious, considering that she should be behind them? Just asking. .. ARNEL THE BELIEVER WE experienced the concert of the much awaited rock band Journey last Sunday, March 14 at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds, featuring our very own Arnel Pineda. Together with Neil Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, they made a hit show with thousands in attendance. They rocked the night singing their famous songs like Open Arms, Don't Stop Believing and Faithfully. Highly appreciated was Arnel who wowed the crowd with his high-pitched voice. His story is an inspiration to most Filipinos drowned by poverty. He's proven that it should not be the reason to quit life. Like their song, just don't stop believing. Cheers to the group Journey and Arnel. When will it happen again? Just asking... For comments and suggestions, send them to justasking_ja@yahoo. com or 0917-9256177. Source: People's Journal |
