Will Sarah get Lucky?

Sarah Geronimo’s mom, Divine, reportedly wants Luis Manzano to be her daughter’s next leading man.

But did we hear it right that in her next movie with Viva Films, Sarah will have no leading man? Instead, she will pit talents with young actress Judy Ann Santos.

The film has no title yet but the story and script are now being prepared.

Judy Ann is still helping Ogie Alcasid promote their first movie together, "Oh, My Girl" (OMG), directed by Judy Ann’s good friend, Dante Nico Garcia.

There is no specific date yet for her wedding to Joseph Bonifacio, a pastor, but Rica Peralejo, who is a veracious reader, is now into reading books about weddings and – what do you know – parenting.

There’s no doubt there will really be a wedding, as she and Pastor Joseph have been officially engaged since last May.

"Nakakatawa nga daw how he proposed to her," said a kibitzer. "Sa Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay City. And in the presence paof her co-hosts in ‘Umagang Kay GandaPinky Webb and Donita Rose."

Pastor Joseph reportedly knelt in front of Rica, told her of his desire to marry her and presented her with an engagement ring.

Since they have yet to discuss wedding plans, Rica would rather not elaborate on the matter. But one thing sure is it will be a Christian wedding.

And another thing sure is it will not be Pastor Joseph who will officiate at their wedding.

Another engaged couple are Ciara Sotto and her boyfriend of a few years, Jojo Oconer.

Ciara now sports an engagement ring.

Jojo, from what I hear, is part of APT Productions. And the Tuvieras, owner of APT Productions, take to him as their son.

Now in her late 20s, Ciara is the only one among her siblings who is not married. Her sisters, Apple and Lala and brother Gian (who is in the cast of the top-rated series, "Tayong Dalawa"), are all married and with children.

Like Rica, Ciara and Jojo have yet to discuss their wedding details.

Remember when Ciara was the love of John Lloyd Cruz’ life? He wasn’t the big star and sought-after leading man that he is now.

Reports had it then that Ciara’s parents, Tito Sotto, then still a senator, and actress Helen Gamboa, were not keen on him. But since Ciara appeared to genuinely like John Lloyd – and vice-versa – they didn’t object to the relationship.

Helen swears to this day that neither she nor Tito had a hand in Ciara and John Lloyd’s decision to break up.

As for Ciara, her simple explanation was that she wanted to pursue a career in music abroad. Thus, she wanted to be free from any commitment.

Just asking: What happened to Ciara’s supposed singing engagement in Las Vegas, Nevada?

Did you know that when director Edgar "Bobot" and son, Frasco Mortiz, conceptualized the show, "Banana Split," for ABS-CBN, all they wanted was an all-female version of the ‘80s hit show, "Goin’ Bananas"?

"Goin’ Bananas," if you recall, tested the comedy talents of drama actors Christopher de Leon, Johnny Delgado, the late Jay Ilagan and, of course, Edgar Mortiz.

Directing the gag-cum-comedy show was Peque Gallaga.

"Banana Split" debuted with the all-female cast of Angelica Panganiban, Cristine Reyes, Roxanne Guinoo, Valerie Concepcion, RR Herrera and Princess Ryan.

But the all-female "Banana Split" failed to click with the TV viewers. Thus Direk Bubot and Frasco decided to reformat the show. They started by adding new segments, such as "NNNN" (which, from the beginning, was meant to spoof the daily showbiz talk program of Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda, "Showbiz New Ngayon" or, SNN), and "Brod Bro Bru."

Several of the original cast had to be eliminated, like Roxanne Guinoo and Valerie Concepcion.

Cristine Reyes was retained. But she resigned.

New stars were added to the show: Pokwang and Pooh and the "PareKoy’s" John Prats, Zanjoe Marudo and Jayson Gainza.

"Immediately, the feedback was positive," said ABS-CBN’s production manager Cynthia Jordan. "Viewers agree that the episodes have become playful but not naughty as before."

Cynthia admits, however, that the portion in the show which is "kuwela" to the public is "NNNN" where Angelica and Jayson effectively impersonate Kris and Boy.

"It’s good that Boy and Kris didn’t object to it," stated Cynthia. "They are even willing to support the show, kung kailangan pa raw namin ang supportnila."
