Wonder how Kris will react to Willie’s tantrum

WONDER how Kris Aquino felt when her Kapamilya Willie Revillame threw a tantrum when the coverage of the motorcade for the remains of her mom, the late Pres. Cory Aquino, from La Salle to the Manila Cathedral was shown as an inset during "Wowowee" last Tuesday. Willie flared up and barked: "Ano ba yan? Kung gusto nyong ipakita yan, yan na lang. Kung ako, ako na lang! Nagsasaya kami rito sa show na ‘to! Ayusin nyo yan!"

Those who saw Willie were outraged, saying he showed no respect for the much-loved former president and he acted like he’s the boss of ABS-CBN when ABS-CBN CEO Gabby Lopez even earlier personally thanked Tita Cory for returning ABS-CBN to them after she restored democracy. But wonder of wonders, ABS-CBN quickly obeyed Willie and removed the coverage on screen as he ordered.

How Willie behaved is now being shown on youtube and we’re sure if he himself would watch it, he’d be embarrassed for being so disrespectful to the memory of Tita Cory. As may be expected, the reaction against Willie is so negative, even in text messages currently being circulated. No wonder the ratings of "Wowowee" continue to plunge while "Eat Bulaga" continues to go higher and higher. And there are talks that Kris will be paired with Willie in a movie. We wonder if she’d still be willing to do it after Willie’s imperious and arrogant behavior against her dear departed mom who, as of now, congress has already recommended as National Hero. We doubt if ABS-CBN would do anything to Willie after what he did. As Willie claims, he’s very powerful at ABS (for whatever reason) and whatever he says, goes.

Marian Rivera went with Dingdong Dantes to the wake of the late Pres. Cory Aquino at the Manila Cathedral on Tuesday night and it so happened that Gov. Vilma Santos was also there. What do they have in common? They’re the only actresses who got to portray both Darna and Dyesebel. Marian couldn’t restrain herself from approaching Ate Vi and telling her: "Hello po, ako po si Marian Rivera."

To which Ate Vi replied: "Yes, I know you. Good luck saDarna mo. Galingan mo, ha."

"I’m very flattered na kilala pala niya ako," says Marian. "Napakabait niya kaya hindi ako nahiyang lapitan siya kahit Kapamilya siya at Kapuso ako. That night, feeling ko, nagkakaisa kami sa pakikiramay sa pagpanaw ni Pres. Cory Aquino."

Marian is understandably nervous with the coming telecast of "Darna," but she’s optimistic that viewers will appreciate all the efforts they’re putting it to make totally different from any version of Darna before. "Pinagsama-sama rito lahat ng contravidang nakalaban ni Darna before in her various movies: Iwa Moto as Valentina ang babaeng ahas, Nadine Samonte as babaeng impakta na may nakakabit na maligno sa kuba niyang likod, Ehra Madrigal as babaeng lawin na hindi na basta ordinaryong pakpak ang gamit dito but metallic wings, Francine Prieto as babaeng tuod who can command plants and trees to follow her, and Maggie Wilson as babaeng linta. GMA uses the latest in CGI special effects para maging makatotohanan talaga ang dating ng fight scenes ko with each of them. Hahanga talaga ang viewers."

Talks about Dennis Trillo and Pauleen Luna playing beautiful music together on the set of "Adik Sa ‘Yo" persist. "Five years na kaming magkakilala as we both started with ABS," says Pauleen. "Pero ngayon lang kami nagkasama in ‘Adik Sa’Yo’ and we have plenty of scenes together kaya may time for kuwentuhan. Noon kasi, laging tahimik lang siya, mahiyain. This time, naging malapit kami sa isa’t isa at nagsimula yun when both started practicing how to deliver our lines with aBatangueno accent. Mahirap talaga so we had to do it lagi hanggang ayun, natsismis na nga kami."

So how is it so far between them?

"Masaya, kasi kasundo ko siya. Enjoy kami with out whole cast sa set."

What does she like in him?

"We’re both simple. Hindi mahilig sa gimmick. Makapamilya. We go for clean fun, kahit nasa bahay lang."

But Dennis has a son?

"Accepted ko na yun. Nandiyan na. He loves Calix very much."

When "Adik Sa’Yo" ends on the air, won’t their closeness to each other also end?

"That will be the test. Now, we see each other sa taping four times a week. Ewan natin kung ano mangyayari kapag tapos na angshow. Doon na siguro makikita kung sincere talaga siya and he won’t change."

Heart Evangelista says that although she’s friends again with ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales, this doesn’t necessarily mean she’s now ready to have a boyfriend again. "I’m not ready to get into another relationship," she says. "Puede naman akong makipagkaibigan sa mga dati kong nakarelasyon. Walang masama kung maging friends ko sila uli. But I’d rather na wala muna akong karelasyon ngayon at puro work lang. I’m busy with three regular shows: ‘Ngayon at Kailanman,’ ‘Fashionista,’ and ‘SOP.’ I also have a new endorsement so mas mabuti na yung unattachedkasi wala rin akong time for him."

How does it feel now that it’s been announced that she’s Richard Gutierrez’ leading lady in "Full House"? "Siempre, happy akoas I’ve enjoyed working with Richard before in ‘Asero.’ But this time, hindi telefantasya ang gagawin namin kundi more of a romantic comedy, soibang putahe naman ito."

Sec. Ronnie Puno says that if Vilma Santos would agree to run as vice president, then no doubt she’d win.

"Gov. Vilma is really a credit to showbusiness as she is a very productive public servant," he says. "Just like Edu Manzano, Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada. Narinig ko siyang nagtalumpati sa mga kababayan niya sa Batangas and she talked about her programs for the province, patiabout her programs on climate change. She talked about cleaning up Taal Lake and her programs for the poor. While listening to her, I told myself, kung lahat ng governors ganito, mabilis matatapos ang mga problema natin sa Pilipinas. When asked later on kung ano ba talaga ang ambisyon niya, she said she only aims to continue with what she’s doing. If you’d remember, mayor pa lang siya ng Lipa, sinasabi nang puede siyang maging senator or vice president at kapag tumakbo siya, sigurado na, and it’s all true. If she’d run as vice president, she’d be almost impossible to beat. But what’s nice about her, she believes that everything is in its proper time. Sa ngayon, ang focus niya talaga, is on Batangas muna. I think na kapag ang mga plano mo, nalagay sa tamang panahon sa tamang lugar, even our Lord will smile on your plans, and she knows that."

Sugarfree is best known for their mammoth hit, "Hari ng Sablay," that Regal even turned into a movie three years ago. They’re currently celebrating their 10th anniversary and are happy that they just recorded their fourth studio album, "Mornings and Airports." How are they now compared to when they were starting 10 years ago?

"Ours is really a struggle," says lead vocalist-songwriter Ebe Dancel from Ilagan, Isabela. "Sabi ko in 1999, last try ko naand if it’d fail, it’s not really for me. But we got a record deal with Viva and we prepared for our first album. By 2000, ready na yung 12 songs namin, but Viva put it on hold. Nainip kami and we asked to be released. We brought the record to EMI Philippines and it was finally released in January 2003. Ang tagal. But worth the long wait kasisold out agad."

The album, "Sa Wakas," spawned hits like ‘Telepono," "Mariposa" and "Burn Out." It won them the NU 107 Rock best new artist and album of the year awards. In July 2004, they released their next LP, "Dramachine," which produced "Hari ng Sablay," "Prom" and "Kuwarto" that was used in the movie "Pinoy Blonde." Their next album was "Talaarawan," which won the 2007 NU 107 Rock best artist, vocalist of the year (for Ebe), album of the year and best album packaging awards. It produced the rock ballad "Wag Ka Nang Umiyak," whose music video, directed by Quark Henares, was No. 1 at the MYX for several weeks. It’s now also used as a love song in the Cinemalaya film, "Dinig Sana Kita," sang by lead star Zoe Sandejas.

Their new album is sure to be another winner. "Mornings and Airports" have 14 great songs that deal with life, love, longing, distance and reflection. The carrier song, "Hay Buhay," reflects: "Kay hirap din palang hanapin ang iyong sarili/ sa isang mundong laging nagmamadali."

Ebe says: "The album represents the joys and pains our band experienced for the past ten years. We’re now more focused, more grounded. Hindi na kami sugod ng sugod at tanggap na namin who we are. We have the right people showing us the right directions."

The album will be launched at August 19, Wednesday, 9 p.m., at Saguijo in Makati. The other great cuts are "Wala Nang Hihilingin," "Pagkatapos ng Lahat," "Patawad," and the title track. They will have their 10th anniversary show, "Dekada," at Music Museum, 8 p.m., on August 28 and 29.

EMI has also released fabulous compilation albums that are collector’s items: "Best 100 Music of the ‘80s," "Pure ‘70s," "Classic Sinatra," "Classical Beatles," and Joey Albert’s hit songs as rendered by other artists like Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Lani Misalucha, Lea Salonga and many more.
