Young actorshooked on gambling

TWO young actors have reportedly become casino
addicts.

One time, when both lost all of the money they have, the two were allegedly forced to pawn not just the jewelry they were wearing but also their expensive cell phones. They had to do this, hoping perhaps that with the money they got from pawning their things, they would be able to go back to the casino and play again to win back the money lost.

Will someone please tell these two young talents to stop their particular vice as it is a game where most end up as losers?

With the attention she’s currently getting, most people predict that Valerie Concepcion will turn a swell-head.

In less than a year’s time, this former talent of GMA-7 is getting all the breaks she needs at her new home studio, ABS-CBN.

Valerie is now a regular host of the daily game program, "Wo-wowee." She has appeared in several shows of the Kapamilya network, including the now defunct sitcom, "John En Marsha," which starred Dolphy, Maricel Soriano, and Susan Roces.

She also did a commercial for a popular brand of hard drink.

But, most of all, she played leading lady to Manny Pacquiao in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, "Anak ng Kumander."

Now here’s the rub: She reportedly "snubbed" the premiere of "Anak ni Kumander." She also did not join the Parade of Stars at the Rizal Park last Monday. The Parade of Stars is a must for all actors who have an entry in the MMFF 2007.

Anyway, was Valerie’s presence missed at the occasion at all?

It seems that Jolo Revilla, second son of Sen. Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado, is keeping true to his promise not to have a girlfriend yet. He said he’d rather concentrate on his studies, showbiz career, and the small car washing business he put up along with his uncle, Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla.

"At siyempre pa, I want to give more time to my son, Gab (who is turning three in January). Tita Rosanna (Roces, Gab’s other lola) and Grace (Gab’s mom) have allowed my son to stay with me every weekend.

"Kapag nasa bahay siya, I focus my attention on him," Jolo said.

What’s the status of his relationship with Grace now?

"We have maintained our friendship," he answered.

Being a young father has made him responsible, according to Jolo, because as much as possible, whatever support he gives to his son it should come from his own earnings.

"Ayoko kasing umasa pa sa mga parents ko," Jolo disclosed. "Kung kaya ko rin lang naman, ako na ang nagsu-solve ng mga problema ko."

Only 19 years old, Jolo hopes to follow his dad’s footsteps as an actor and politician.

Jolo and his elder brother, Bryan, are in the cast of "Resiklo," their dad’s entry in the ongoing MMFF. They play Dingdong Dantes’ cohorts. Dingdong portrays sidekick to Senator Bong in the film.

Directed by Mark Reyes, "Resiklo" was given an A rating by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB). A futuristic adventure movie, robots are the film’s biggest attraction and they are made of recycled scrap irons, military equipment, and other junks. The robots are given their own "moment" in "Resiklo" which the young moviegoers will surely enjoy.
