Gender

When submitting a person's name to our database, you can choose either if the person is a female or male. Identifying them by gender usually makes it easier to identify which of several people with the same name is referred to. In other words, if you are faced with several people named "Sam Concepcion," knowing that one is an actress and the others are actors can cut your search down.

We use the person's biological gender; thus, men performing in drag would still be listed as male. If you are submitting a role played by the actor or actress, the person's gender should be base on the character the person is playing. For example, if according to a role played Ruffa Mae Quinto is male (biologically and physically), then the role should be male.

We have several other options to choose from aside from male and female but this only applies to character roles. These are: Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Gender, and Neutral. For example, in the TV series Ang Tanging Ina, Ketchup Eusebio played a gay role even though the actor is not gay. You should choose Gay as his gender. Neutral characters are usually non-living things that has been considered part of the series or an episode (such as Teddy from the TV series Mr. Bean) unless the series explicitly implies that the characters is of either male or female gender.

For live shows, do not choose Gay or Lesbian for a TV host or guests. Instead use their biological gender. You can choose their surgically reassigned gender if possible but do not do this in the person's biographical data.

We made this separation of other genders so that you could browse our database with regard to genders played by these actors and actresses.
