Genre

We have a total of 36 genre you can choose from.

Action
An action series contains numerous scenes where action is spectacular and usually destructive. If a series contains just one action scene (even if prolonged, e.g., airplane-accident) it does not qualify.

Adult
Any series that falls under this genre are reserved for series that contains explicit pornography.

Adventure
Adventure should contain numerous consecutive and inter-related scenes of characters participating in hazardous or exciting experiences for a specific goal. Not to be confused with Action, and should only sometimes be supplied with it.

Animation
Over 75% of the title's running time should have scenes that are wholly, or part-animated. Any form of animation is acceptable, e.g., hand-drawn, computer-generated, stop-motion, etc. Incidental animated sequences should be indicated with the keywords part-animated or animated-sequence instead.

Business
TV series that deals with the topic of business such as agricultural business, buying and selling, home shopping network, etc. Series that has a business theme should not fall under this genre, instead, use keywords or tags.

Children's
These are series designed for children's viewing. Everything that falls in this genre should have a G-rating imposed to it.

Comedy
In television, sitcom is the most common form of comedy, literally where the humour arises from the situation that a group of characters find themselves in. Sitcoms often have "canned laughter" attached. In theatre there are many types of comedy. One example is character comedy, which comes from a tradition known as commedia dell arte, a modern form of this is improvised comedy such as Theatre sports. Virtually all scenes should contain characters participating in humorous or comedic experiences. The comedy can be exclusively for the viewer, at the expense of the characters in the title, or be shared with them. There are various types of comedy, some are: spoof, parody, satire, black-comedy. Please submit any qualifying keywords such as those to better describe the humor. Note: if most scenes are not compliant with comedic themes, then use the 'comedy' keyword (or other variations) instead, and do not include the title in this genre.

Cooking
Usually pertains to live-reality shows about cooking but may also come in variety of other shows related to food.

Crime
Crime should contain numerous consecutive and inter-related scenes of characters participating, aiding, abetting, and/or planning criminal behavior or experiences usually for an illicit goal. Not to be confused with Film-Noir, and only sometimes should be supplied with it.

Documentary
It should contain numerous consecutive scenes of real personages and not characters portrayed by actors. This genre demotes other genres (Family, Music and War are ones that can co-exist with Documentary) such that they should be supplied as keywords instead. e.g., "making of" shows and tribute/biographical shows are Documentary (even if the encapsulated subjects within fit other genres). Note: This genre restricts the use of most genres, which should instead be submitted as keywords.

Drama
Drama should contain numerous consecutive scenes of characters portrayed to effect a serious narrative throughout the title. This can be exaggerated upon to produce melodrama. Please submit any such keywords.

Educational
Also known as knowledge-base series. Any series that provides vital information about any topic possible. This can cross-reference to other genre.

Family
It should be universally accepted viewing. e.g., aimed specifically for the education and/or entertainment of children or the entire family. Note: Usually, but not always, complementary to Animation.

Fantasy
It should contain numerous consecutive scenes of characters portrayed to effect a magical and/or mystical narrative throughout the title. Note: not to be confused with Sci-Fi which is not usually based in magic or mysticism.

Game Show
Competition, other than sports, between, usually, non-professional contestants. The competition can include a physical component, but is usually primarily mental or strategic as opposed to athletic. This also includes what are known as "quiz shows." Talent contests staged expressly for the program are considered Game-Shows.

Health
Health TV programs should deal with the topic of healthy living, proper nutritional intake, medicinal guide, exercise, and the likes. Exercise programs are usually shown early in the morning. Home shopping programs that sells beauty products or exercise machines should not be included in this genre.

Horror
It should contain numerous consecutive scenes of characters effecting a terrifying and/or repugnant narrative throughout the title. Note: not to be confused with Thriller which is not usually based in fear or abhorrence.

Lifestyle
Usually goes hand-in-hand with health, Lifestyle genre deals with everyday living, tips on home improvement, skin care talk, etc.

Magazine
Day-to-day affair of the current happenings in or out of the country. Can be closely related to documentaries.

Movies
Not necessarily a genre but a program block that shows local (Philippines) or international movies. Unless hosted with narration prior or after the program, casts information should remain blank.

Music
It contains significant music-related elements while not actually being a Musical; this may mean a concert, or a story about a band (either fictional or documentary).

Musical
It should contain several scenes of characters bursting into song aimed at the viewer (this excludes songs performed for the enjoyment of other characters that may be viewing) while the rest of the time, usually but not exclusively, portraying a narrative that alludes to another Genre. Note: not to be added for titles that are simply music related or have music performances in them; e.g., pop concerts do not apply. Also, classical opera, since it is entirely musical, does not apply and should instead be treated as Music.

Mystery
It should contain numerous inter-related scenes of one or more characters endeavoring to widen their knowledge of anything pertaining to themselves or others. Note: Usually, but not always associated with Crime.

News
News programs to inform the viewers of the current events in their community / country.

Periodic
TV series, show, or documentaries that deals with the historical evolution of a region such as the western era in America, the dynasties of China, the ancestral histories of the Philippines, the rennaisance era of Europe, etc.

Public Service
Deals with public service announcement. Most of the programs tagged under this genre are programs that are under the 30-minute duration. An example would be, Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko (Philippines).

Reality
A new genre of TV viewing where little or no editing are presented for public viewing. It should feature non-professionals in an unscripted, but generally staged or manipulated, situation. May or may not use hidden cameras; generally, but not always, in a non-studio setting.

Religion
Any TV program that tackles the discussions of religion.

Romance
It should contain numerous inter-related scenes of a character and their personal life with emphasis on emotional attachment or involvement with other characters, especially those characterized by a high level of purity and devotion. Note: Reminder, as with all genres if this does not describe the series wholly, but only certain scenes or a subplot, then it should be submitted as a keyword instead.

Science Fiction
Contains numerous scenes, and/or the entire background for the setting of the narrative, should be based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets. Also known as Chat Show.

Sports
Focus is on sports or a sporting event, either fictional or actual. This includes fictional stories focused on a particular sport or event, documentaries about sports, and television broadcasts of actual sporting events. In a fictional TV series, the sport itself can also be fictional, but it should be the primary focus of the program.

Talk Show
A program during which well-known people discuss a topic or answer questions telephoned in by the audience; "in England they call a talk show a chat show".

Tech
Tech related series including gaming news and updates about the latest in the software and hardware technology.

Thriller
A suspenseful adventure story, play, movie, or in this case, TV series. It should contain numerous sensational scenes or a narrative that is sensational or suspenseful. Note: not to be confused with Mystery or Horror, and should only sometimes be accompanied by one (or both).

Travel
All series, specials, and documentaries pertaining to travel such as hosts visiting several regions of a country or a global travel around the world. Reality shows such as The Amazing Race may also be included in this genre.

Variety
A show consisting of a series of short unrelated performances.
